Default problems starting my F4i

The weather finally broke enough for me to bring the bike (2002 F4i) out of storage. It was garaged, but not hooked up to a battery charger/tender. First attempted at starting it was a no-go. I jumped it - fired up first time and was fine that day. It has since sat for about 4-5 days -- went out to start it today...totally dead.

I tried to jump it today, but no luck this time. I'm thinking my battery is just toast. It's 3 years old and I haven't had a problem out of it yet and I know they don't typically last too long anyway.

Thoughts / Opinions -- possibly something else?

Thanks!

p.s. - I ordered a battery tender yesterday for 'extended' storage times in the future.

If it won't crank even with a jump, or cranks very slow, yes the battery is toast. A battery in DECENT shape will accept a jump...but if the battery is too dead, or has a bad cell, oftentimes it won't accept the jump....

Worst case scenario, replace the battery and use your battery tender whenever it's going to be stored for more than a week or so.

That's pretty much what I was thinking. I swapped out the battery today and she fired right up.

Default Eek!!!

Not the greatest idea in the world to be jumping computerized fuel injected bikes, either. A car battery could smoke that harness in an instant, not to mention all that other big dollar stuff....
