So now I've lost about 47 lbs and I'm really starting to notice some extra skin. Makes everything kinda sag It's a little depressing when I've been doing so good with losing the weight. Is there any way to combat this or am I just going to have to deal with it? I sure hope there is something I can do because I still have about another 60 lbs I want to lose and then things are going to be very stretchy.

kawa,
there isn't a clear cut answer really. it all depends on how long you've been overweight, how fast you lost weight, and how old you are. the faster you lose weight, you will have more loose skin vice if you've lost the recommended 2 lbs. per week. if you've been overweight for a long time, then it will be difficult for your skin to return to normal.
but you've got your age in your favor ... being 22 is much more beneficial than losing it at 44. since you're relatively young it will probably return to normal with some time.
congratulations on your weight loss and keep it up!!!!!

Thanks for the encouragement guys! It's been pretty awesome so far. A lot more energy and it's pretty crazy seeing how big my old clothes are. I haven't been exceeding 2-3 lbs a week though. Normally around 2.5 a week. So it hasn't been too much over the suggested. Also...would lifting weights help? I know I'd need to change my diet again if I were to start lifting weights. I was told that while on a strict diet that lifting weights can actually make muscle deteriorate...is there any truth to this?

I don't know about making the muscle deteriorate, however, exercise is generally a good thing. Check with your doctor.
I personally like body weight exercises. Do a google search for "combat conditioning". I don't subscribe to everything the author says but I do like a number of the exercises. Lots of abdominal, push-ups, squats, and some other stuff that are non-traditional but have worked well for me.
Congrats on the weight loss. I'm down about 65 lb from my all time high. So I have some idea where you're coming from. Keep up the good work.

that depends on your definition of strict. if you aren't taking in enough protein to help build your muscle, then that is definitely a possibility.
look up rhabdomyolysis if you want an eye opener.

Your muscles are 'deteriorating' by losing weight. By lifting weights and taking in more protein you can minimize muscle loss and more sufficiently lose weight from a boosted metabolism. No strings attached. The ONLY way lifting could be bad, no matter how you diet is, is by over training....Working the same muscles every day.
You wouldn't have to change your diet besides adding protein here and there. You have lost a lot of weight so your diet obviously works. Protein doesn't involve carbs or fat so you could just take whey 2 times a day if nothing else.
For every 100 lbs of weight gained from someone who DOESNT EVEN LIFT WEIGHTS, up to ~30% of it can be muscle. The study I took that from didn't say anything about weight loss but I would think that applies closely to weight lost also.
Hell yeah 47 pounds is awesome. Lifting weights will definitely help you out. Not only is it exercise but the more muscle you build the more calories you will burn. The more calories your burn the more fat you burn! Like a chain reaction!
Definetly sounds like everyone agrees on the subject. I guess I better grab a gym membership and get to the lifting. I know I'm not getting enough protein for lifting so I will start looking into the Whey Protein Powder...thanks for the link Zx. I've never lifted weights before...should I spend the extra cash to hire a personal trainer just to get started or should I just figure it out as I go? Thanks for all the advice so far everyone.
