eat a tuna sandwich as soon after your workout as you can.. or a pb and j if fish isn't your thing. A berry shake is pretty darn yummy and is a good mix of simple carbs/protein for that post workout refuel. Some people say eat a meal (if you eat more than 3 a day.. then whatever your regular meal cycle is..) within an hour or two after a workout.

I'm no superman, by any measure, but I like to eat something right after... whether it's something small or a couple of sushi rolls. If it has to be quick, personally... nothing ends a good workout like a small bottle (or 16oz glass) of chocolate milk.

Easiest way is a shake with a mix of simple carbs and protein immediately after you work out. Then a about 60-90 minutes after you drink that shake, eat a full meal.

Consider taking Glutamine, my recovery time is normally about a day quicker when I'm taking glutamine.

and if your legs are sore 4 days later, you might want to adjust something in your routine. there are ways of preventing (and treating in your case :p) DOMS, and you are likely not progressing as well as you could if your body didn't have to use so much to repair cells, and more to just building new ones.

If I go more than 3 weeks without working out legs, I'll be sore for a good 3-4 days after the first time. But I'd say average is about 1-2 days. If you aren't sore most of the next day, you didn't go hard enough.

that is my case here, i am trying to be consistant with working legs, finally did them two weeks in a row. but for some reason, i am never really sore the next day from legs, it is the second day after that kills me???
