Default Tai Chi

Anybody practice it? I hear it's good for balance, coordination, and breathing.

i do not, but have heard the same from several practitioners. I would assume it has many benefits that other martial arts bring too...

i did a couple times and thats all i could stand. it was boring as hell. not really a martial art in the way that you learn to waste people; more like it teaches you to focus your energy. it has my vote for being ghey but to each his own.

if you dont know what tai chi is. its like in the movies where the guy is standing out in the yard by himself doing slow karate movies and playing with his invisible zen ball. its just too slow for me.

My friend has had serious health problems his whole life. A few years ago he started getting DVT in his legs (blood clots in his veins).

He started Tai Chi last year and it has really made him a lot healthier. Its low impact to do and because you practice it so slowly, it really helps build a lot of coordination and felxibility.

It requires much more discipline than most other martial arts, though. It's not for everyone.

Just don't expect to be able to beat up muggers in the alley by the time you finish or anything. It IS a real martial art in the sense that you can fight using it, but it's no longer the intended purpose.
