OK, so we're in agreement that Ramen noodles and the no-name counterparts are not particularly beneficial to our health. But if you're like me, you have several pallets of the shit stored in a cabinet for quick and easy [CHEAP] meals. But just because Ramen is made from cardboard doesn't mean it actually has to taste like it.
I'll admit that I don't always throw the flavor packet away - I am guilty of using the beef packets. But I purposefully buy chicken flavor knowing full well that I'll never use the flavor packets. Occasionally I'll use the chicken flavor packets as a seasoning over the grill, but usually they get tossed in a bag and end up going stale.
Green ramen:
Steam some green beans in lemon pepper seasoning for 10 minutes, add to cooked noodles and serve. Top with parmesean cheese.
Mushroom ramen:
Saute one small can of mushrooms in a pan with 1 teaspoon of canola oil. Lowfat butter, margarine, or olive oil can be substituted for canola, depending on preference and taste. Add to one packet of cooked noodles. Add pepper.
What are some things you can do with Ramen noodles to make them not only taste better, but provide some nutritional benefit?
The one with the green beans sounds good. Will have to try that one.

That sounds delicious.
Personally, I try not to use the flavoring it comes with and instead make my own and cook the noodles in it. Beef bullion cubes, or chicken/vegetable stock is much healthier and less sodium than the packets of flavoring which helps a little. I never go without adding some sort of vegetables to them. Usually it's just those carrots, peas, corn, green bean frozen mix, but sometimes I'll get creative. Generally I put some meat in there too if I have any left over... A chicken breast cut up good, some lean meat of whatever variety I have in the fridge. Tofu is also really good in there, but I usually fry that up a bit in some olive oil to get it a bit firm.

I think any recipe with ramen noodles as an ingredient is simply trying to make the best of your situation.

I stopped buying Ramen Noodles after I was able to afford real food. They were good when nothing else was available, not so much now.
My nephew lives on them, even though my sister keeps her kitchen stocked with enough food to feed an army. Doesn't seem to have stunted his growth. He's over 6ft tall and not even 16 years old yet.
i LOVE ramen noodles!! in order of preference: beef, shrimp, and chicken mmmmmm

I crack an egg into it then when that's done cooking I add frozen peas. It gets just cool enough to eat and I just added some protein and whatever peas give ya.
I guess it ends up being glorified egg drop soup.
Ramen is not a main staple for me by any means but if I have a bad cold or the flu it's comfort food.
Kinda like going to Big Boy or Dennys for breakfast after a night of drinking (which I haven't done in more than 10 years)
