I've been trying to drop this gut and get in shape with cardio and lifting. I've been eating healthy and trying to eat less calories than i'm burning. I was thinking about eating whey to make sure my muscles get enough protien. I just want to make sure this isnt going to hinder the fat burning cause i know poeple take it to gain weight. I'm assuming it just contributes to muscles. I just dont want to do all this work and have my body using the protien instead of the fat i'm trying to lose. I dont know if that even makes sense, I never took it before and dont really know anything about it.

Just watch how much you take in. any un used protien will be stored as fat.
Also dont take too much at a time. 25 to 30 grams per serving is plenty. the average person can only digest 20 to 35 grams of protien at a time. so the rest will go down the drain.

you take protien as a meal supplement. it will digest fast and curve hunger. As long as you dont over do it, it will help you lose wieght.

Yep, Ridin' is hitting it pretty much on the head. Plus, adding whey protein will only help your lifting as it includes amino acids and glutamine that you need if you're lifting consistently.
Oh, and one serving of whey usually has around 110 (ON brand) calories or so, so I wouldn't worry about supplementing with it and gaining "bad" weight.

Exactly. I'll occasionally make a whey protein shake and drink it as a meal when I'm either on the go or just want something to keep my stomach from craving more.
I was taking it daily for breakfast a while back and when combined that with a steady workout routine. I dropped several pounds and looked better too.

What he said. No carbs involved so what isn't absorbed is simply eliminated.
ok so it sounds good, I like the idea of taking a shake instead of breakfast. limit it and i should be good right? I just want to make sure I'm getting enough protein.
I was taking Cell Tech creatine like a year and a half ago before i broke my back. I still have an almost full big tub of it left. Now, I dont even know what this shit is or what it does but it did make me feel puffy and curbed my appetite when i was taking it. I just took it cause my dad told me it would would help. So is it a form of protien? can i just take it? Like i said i dont know anything about this shit.
And does that hydroxycut shit even work? I'm always hesitant about those get slim pills casue its always bullshit.

well a creatine wont work as a protien. its basically a muscle hydrator. you might acually see a gain in wieght at first. with creatine its best to take your daily serving during or after your workout to help with muscle recovery.

Click on the "articles" link on the left side. All you'll ever want to know about supplements and more.
Creatine is naturally occuring in your body, but supplementing with it does help in anaerobic activities. Creatine helps refuel your body with ATP (adenosine triphosphate), which is essentially the fuel for your muscles. With increased exercise ATP gets depleted. Without ATP you won't be doing shit.
In layman's terms, creatine will help you bust out those last couple of reps because you'll have the energy for your muscles that you didn't before. Now that means that you need to work your butt off in order for creatine to work for you. If you don't push yourself beyond what you normally do then you won't be taking advantage of what creatine is doing for you.
As for your question about hydroxycut and those types of pills, they are mainly stimulants. Caffeine, green tea, etc. You'll feel more energy with them alright, but just taking them alone won't do jack for you.

just make sure you have the same mass going out as you have coming in...
no but serious take the protein a half hour to hour before you go to the gym, or immediately after your workout, you should have many worries, also check this out:

my whine...
bodybuilding dot dum has become a overly used resource that doesn't seem to monitor nor check the articles they post. There is some overly redundant and pretty general shit that doesn't do much to help anyone understand anything. Don't get me wrong, there are great people on there with amazing knowledge, but there are more and more tools these days.
If you are just starting to work out and "loose the gut", protein is the very last of your worries. In fact, supplementing at all is not something you should be doing, beyond perhaps a multivitamin to help you get needed minerals and essentials. If you are focusing on nutrition and a sound workout strategy, then you are doing just fine. If you are really serious about getting into shape, spend a couple of extra bucks on a session or 3 with a personal trainer, which are generally provided by whatever gym you go work out at for a nominal fee. Some places like 24 hour fitness will include a couple of session or a body analysis with your dues, some places like YMCA will charge 20 bucks a week or 100 a month or something like that. It's money well spent to get on the road to change (it is afterall a lifestyle change), and any trainer holding a degree in the field will tell you that you don't need supplementation at this early stage... regardless of your past history of exercise routines.
Sorry for sounding like a jackass... i just woke up and I'm tired.

Good advice but I would have to disagree with you about protein being that last of his worries. Protein and a multivitamin IMO should be taken by everyone. Even if they are not trying to build muscle but just to stay healthy in general you know? If your looking to build muscle you want to take in about 1.5 grams of protein per pound you weigh. Since you are looking to lose the gut I would recommend only taking 1 gram per pound though. So try to figure out about how much protein you take in with your diet and then the rest supplement with a good protein. BSN makes a great one called Lean Dessert Protein Shake. Its fairly low in calories and it has 20g of protein per serving. Have you considered taking a fat burner? CLA and L-carnatine would be a good place to start. I actually work for bodybuilding.com so I am happy to give you some advice or send you some links if you would like man. I dont get commission so im not trying to throw pitch a sale or anything!

If you're focusing more on losing the gut, your ultimate goal is to burn calories. Lean more towards cardio.
What supplements you should be taking is dependent on your genetics, build, and workout routine. Nobody on a sportbike forum is going to know better than you.
