I thought I remember a few years back when people were saying that eggs are unhealthy - too much cholesterol etc. But then didn't some health officials revise that to say they aren't as bad as once thought?
I think it's like anything else. A reasonable amount of eggs will provide much needed nutrients, while a dozen eggs every morning will probably kill you!
I believe that medical opinion has changed and the egg is considered a very inexpensive way to get high-quality protein.
Eat up Rock.
Years of research have concluded that healthy adults can enjoy eggs without significantly impacting their risk of heart disease. In fact, a 9,500-subject study published in the January 2007 issue of Medical Science Monitor concluded that eating one or more eggs per day does not increase the risk of coronary artery disease or stroke among healthy adults. And a review of over 30 years of research on eggs published last year came to the same conclusion - that eating eggs daily does not have a significant impact on blood cholesterol or heart disease risk.
"Many Americans are confused about the relationship between eggs, cholesterol and heart disease," said Stephen Kritchevsky, Ph.D., director of the J. Paul Sticht Center at Wake Forest University. "Population-based studies consistently show that regular egg consumption has no measurable impact on heart disease risk among healthy, non-diabetic adults. What's more, research shows that eating eggs does not significantly alter the ratio of LDL-cholesterol to HDLcholesterol, which is recognized as a better indicator of heart disease risk than an individual's total cholesterol number or LDL number."
"When it comes to nutrition, it is important to focus on the health benefits that foods provide," according to registered dietitian, Mary Lee Chin. "Not only are eggs easy to prepare and economical, their nutrient package can contribute to weight management, eye health and even a baby's brain development during pregnancy.
Eggs are very healthy. I've never heard one complain of not feeling well at all. Especially free-range eggs; they get more exercise rolling around in the fields.
Really; eggs are very good food. Like many things, YMMV; there are some people for whom eggs can raise their cholesterol too much, but if your levels are OK, then you don't have much to worry about.

Too many eggs on the track causes loss of traction, but piling into a truckload of eggs in the styrofoam crates might provide for a really soft landing assuming you don't get cut by the shattered shells..... Overall, I would say they are a bad thing....

Depends on your health, I personaly love raw eggs, most athelets do, or well used to. But if your diabetic or high colest, then egg whites only.
AS stated above, with all the processed garbage on the market today I seriously doubt that eggs or any other natural food source should be of much of a concern to anyone.
I eat 12 WHOLE eggs a day and when i got my recent blood work done everything was fine. The myth that dietary cholesterol raises your body's natural cholesterol isnt true. However if you are at risk of heart disease beware of the saturated fats in the yolks. The omega 3 eggs are a much better idea. Here check this thread out how many eggs in the offseason? - Muscular Development Forums

I would be very interested to see a study where they show that dietary cholesterol doesn't raise the bodies cholesterol levels.
Don't be afraid of the eggs.
