ok so most people posting is this section definately have the fitness side going, but what kind of meals do you guys eat?

i usually just throw some random things together, never really plan a meal. i think this might need to be changed for me, get some organization in the eating side and i will be far more healthy.

From what I've read diet is a big part of achieving your physical fitness goals. I don't really plan my meals either. I do stay away from soda, and junk food. I mix whey protein in with a glass of milk twice a day and after a workout, and drink a tea spoon of flax seed oil twice a day.

No soda, no junk food, no fast food, very little fried food. Everything else is fair game. Lots of whole grain cereal, lots of whole grain bread, pasta, whey protein. Not nearly enough veggies or fruit though. I try to make up for it with juices but it's still not enough. I've got a really high metabolism so I have to pump the carbs all day. Fruits and leafy veggies are useless for carbs so so it's a sacrifice.

In college I planned meals and kept log books along with workout logs. It was a pain in the ass and didn't gain me much. I confess I did feel great.

Here's what I ate yesterday:

6:00am (yeap I couldn't sleep well so I thought I would get up and eat something) I ate a can of tuna and some sandwiches.
11:00am A weight gainer
1:00pm Some really nicely cooked liver
3:00pm Some chicken breasts with potatoes and other vegetables (I'm not sure how to explain the way they were cooked)
6:00 Weight gainer (after gym)
8:00 Some chicken breasts and vegies again
10:00 Some tuna/eggs and fruits
12:00 Weight gainer (I know casein is better but it makes me too full and I don't feel like spending any additional money on more chemistry)

That's yesterday. In general I try to cook something for the next day not don't really plan too much. If I don't cook anything I just eat tuna/eggs/boiled rice or prepare something really quickly that involves chicken and potatoes

Frozen chicken is normally cheaper.

That's my biggest problem right now is eating healthier. I'm trying to cut back on soda. I'm just on diet, i know still bad but when i switched from regular to diet i lost over 5lbs alone. Now I try and drink almost 2L of water a day.

For eating better its kinda hard. I normally just take a ham sandwhich in and some snack for lunch. Unfortunately I sit at a desk all day so i get cravings all day and try and curb them through drinking water or ignoring it.

I also don't eat as much as I used to. I used to scarf my food but once I slowed down and took my time I realize I only eat about half of what I used to.

Well I'm not 100% sure what is defined by fresh and frozen but the ones I buy cost around $10 and have about 7-8 chicken breasts in them (and they are not rock-solid frozen even though I take them from the big-ass refrigerators).

i don't eat junk food ... or try not to. but for the most part, i stay away from it. the only junk food i eat is baked chips, peppermint patties, and sherbert. i really monitor my caloric intake. my one downfall is alcohol. if i stay away from wine and beer (and even the beer i drink is lite) i'd be much happier about my caloric intake. which is something i decided to change, and for the most part, i've done thus far.

as for the diet, i rarely eat red meat, and if i do, it is the leanest you can buy. i am a big fan of ground turkey BREAST, not ground turkey. i'll buy the fresh chicken breast and a whole chicken to roast.

i also try to stay away from preservatives as well. so, the frozen food, packaged foods, etc. is at a minimal.

ABSOLUTELY NO FAST FOOD - PERIOD. no exceptions.

another thing i wish i added more of are fresh vegetables and fruits. it's hard for me over here to find fresh produce ...

Is ground turkey better tasting then a turkey breast?? Turkey burgers for lunch would be kickass

kicking fast food is tough.

My folks always keep those nasty/dry turkey breasts in our freezer. Its the worst part about trying to eat healthy. I've gotta do some experimenting and find some decent lunch items aside from lean turkey and wheat sandwiches w/ an apple

drink wine, its good for the heart, drinking alcohol is ok if you can limit yourself to two drinks, but you have to limit yourself to two drinks. not only does your liver love you, but your pocket book seems to get thicker. i work overnights so my schedule is all jacked up, i am basically a 12 hour flop of normal society.

for me it isn't about the taste comparison b/t turkey breast and ground turkey breast. for me, ground turkey breast is a perfect substitute for ground meat. turkey burgers are awesome, but the downside is they really are dry and sort of bland so you have to season them very well. i can get about 5 burgers out of container of ground turkey breast. i usually season with a clove of garlic (ground over a microplane), ground pepper, salt, and a touch of cayene pepper.

i'll eat one after i make all five and freeze/fridge the other four for lunch. if i recall correctly, 4 ounces of ground turkey breast are 120 calories.

i'm sort of the same way man ... but i work two 12 hour day shifts, then one day off, then two 12 hour mid shifts, then three days off. that really phucks up my sleep schedule. so, right after my first midshift, i'll have to drink some red wine to help me get some sleep. otherwise, i'd stay awake all freakin' day, i just can't sleep during the day. in about a 48 hour period, i'll probably get 10 hours of day sleep, i am an absolute zombie after that second midshift.

you are absolutely correct about the two drinks a day, but i think for about a month i am going to try to go w/out alcohol. it's more of a challenge to see if i can do it or not.

Kick ass. I'm gonna buy some ground turkey for monday. That could be great for dinner or lunch and cook it on a foreman grill.
