Default swap 750 front to my '01 600 - input

thinking of swaping 750 front end to '01 600 for the purpose of better suspension/braking/looks. I have learned that '01 - '03 is easiest(complete swap). My question(s) is has anybody swapped an '04 or newer, is there a point where leaping up in model year presents more issues than swap is worth? And no, I do not want to get a new bike, I already have a lot of sweat, $$ and pride into this one.

i would assume that the mounting points would be nowhere near the same.
you can probably swap out the fairing stay bracket with it, but as far as the mounting points of the fairings, etc.?

i think it would take a LOT of customization.

2000-2003 GSXR 750 will swap directly. I think ergonomics are going to be your issue with stepping to an 04-05 setup. They have a different geometry and that could require more R&D than your prepared for to improve on handling rather than hinder.

I know the '03 will work, but I am thinking of a technology jump to '06. I have a chance to get complete '06 front end for about $600. I am guessing there will be spacer issues for the front rim?

Go for it. It will be nice to see something different. You may run into issues but, as long as your patient i'm sure that it could work.

Took your advice and just blew a grand on these beauties: 07 front end, everything in pics plus both calipers from 07. I am having Sportbike Solutions here in Phx/Scottsdale do install to make it right, I'll still be under half the $3000 it costs to buy all thses parts from dealer.

Good deal please keep us informed being that I'm very interested in your results. Best of luck and it's nice to see someone keep their bike instead of trading it in. I now keep everything that I buy.

Will do SPOOLIN..I hope to see Mr. UPS by Thursday and hopefully have install done next moday. I plan on taking lots of pics and notes so others may benefit when doing this mod.

I had thought about a new bike, but I prefer to drop $500 or so a month on mods than $10K on new one which I'll just do mods to as well. Plus, I would rather have an older custom..I get asked what year/cc my bike is all the time.

I have much respect to you early generation gixxer guys out there.

Default UPDATE - WENT WITH 2007 600 front end, almost completed.

So, I was able to purchase complete 2007 front end (forks, triple tree, rotors, wheel, axle, calipers, master cylinder, clip ons, switches) for $1050 off ebay. The swap is almost completed, but there are a few lessons learned. I'll have pics and how-to's soon, but here are some highlights:

1) brake lines from 2001, too short for 2007.
2) GPR stabilizer needs mounting part from GPR to transition from 2001 to 2007 triple clamp.
3) 2007 forks raise the front end a bit, so rear shock must be replaced with aftermarket to adjust hight.
4) wiring in switches needs modification to be compatible with 2001 wiring harness.

Again, this is just a list of what was needed to make it all work. I should have detailed info and pics by weekend.

Not bad. You may want to lower your front tree to raise the forks/ lower the front end to get a comparable ratio to your stock setup.

I have 90% finished:

1) shimming the rear shock to raise it snd improve handling. Temporary, as my new shock is in mail

2) Bought ExtremeTech shock for $220 on ebay, should help keep bike stuck to pavement, plus it is easy to adjust ride-height.

3) small issue with brake side CRG hitting tank at full turn. New radial -specific CRG arrives next week.

4) waiting on GPR part to make '01-specific GPR work with '07 front end. The guys at GPR were cool about helping us figure out how we could do this.

will post pics after Easter / Passover

The forks are sweeeeeeet, ride and road feel is great.
