Ok, I have been a victim of this scam (if you can call it that..read on)...

May of last year guy wants to buy my magna....wants to give me my asking price plus 3 grand to give to his "shipper"

They want your address to ship the cashiers check but also to put a name on the cashier check...all to make it look legit

I get the check and cash it at the bank...wait 14 days for it to clear...I figure if it doesnt bounce by 14 days I am good...besides I had always hear cashier checks were the way to go when doing these kinds of deals...

next day check bounces...its forged...bank tells me they have no way of verifying validy of the check(i dunno why they cant just call the issuing bank but hey thats what they said)...problem is I had already spend the majority of it on my XX so i couldnt return the money...

the guy never gave me specifics about shipping the bike (thankful for that!)...but kept prodding me to give the 3k to his "shipper"...once i told him the authorities had ben notified (local police,FBI and secret service) all contact ceased...all LEO agencies contacted told me it was a common scam where they count on you to deposit the check and send them the "shipping" costs without waiting for the check to clear

now since i had gone through a divorce and was in bankruptcy I chose to just take the hit on my credit report (bankruptcy had screwed it up anyway)...as far as law enforcement went I was a victim so no criminal charges were files and i got to keep the magna (which i traded for a 01 f4i) and my XX

I read that whole story, it has to be the longest thing I've read since I did a paper on 'Clockwork Orange' in Junior year of H.S. and I'd recommend both...that story is awesome

Alright, I'm now getting on average, about 15 scammers a day. This is getting out of hand.

Look at this latest one, they don't even bother reading the ad to try to scam me. I'm selling a bike, not a (Car) stupid fuktard:

RE: '99 ZX-6R - FAST!

Hi Thai,

ben (ben_parker@operamail.com) has sent you an e-mail:

Hello
i am interested in buying your (CAR),firslty i will want you to give me the last price and the present condition with the pics and i will be paying by a certified cashiers cheque let me know if this is ok by you,i will also arrange shipping meanwhile let me have your name and address including your phone number for payment asap...
And now here's my response to him:

Quote:
Hi Ben,

My V4 Pink Ferrari is $234,000 final price! It is missing the horn, rear-left passenger seat, front brake light, 3 wheels and the steering wheel but you can replace that for less than a hundred bucks.

I have a shipper friend in the States that will take care of the shipping for me. He owes me money anyways. I will need your address ASAP! So that I can send you a Certified Cashier's Cheque for $15,000. Upon receipt, I will need you to wire that money to my best friend the shipper. Okay? Then he can ship out the Pinto to you.

Anxiously and eagerly awaiting your most appreciated and respectable timely mannered response with hopes of a great business friendship forever and ever,

Thai.
Fun stuff. If he gives me his address, I'm gonna use that address for when other scammers are trying to scam me.

That'll be interesting.

That's hilarious! Those bastards paid over $550 in taxes for a box of crap! That's great!
