He didn't directly cause it, but new legislation in WA and OR makes it a misdemeanor crime to even WATCH street racing. They have had a big problem with it in the last 4 or 5 years, especially Kent, WA. This is the LEO's way of making an example of a street racer, too bad someone had to die in the process. I completely stand by the court's decision.

They were racing and they are guilty of whatever crimes that includes, but I don't assign blame to them for the deaths of the girls. If I start scrapping on the street with another biker- it's not his fault if I get in over my head and eat it.

The bike riders are considered "legally present." There's a latin phrase for it that roughly translates to "the hand of one is the hand of all." Basically if a group of people conspire to commit an illegal act, they all share in the responsibility for the outcome. There's an awful lot of legal precedent to back this up.

that is what is so fucked up about this case. You race someone and they crash and die (which you did NOT cause) and you get 6 years in jail. But you run a stop sign that you have a HISTORY of running and cream a rider and kill him, then you get a couple of months in jail. What a bunch of B.S.!!!!! It is hard to call it the "justice" system.

What if 20 guys were out on bikes, cruising down some highway at about 95 (insane speeds! they're racing!), and one of them creamed a pedestrian, dying in the process. The same principle would apply, so I guess we'd have 19 "murderers" going to jail for almost as long as it took me to finish college. Or maybe it was 200 guys...
WTF kind of justice is this.
