Thanks for that post Twinsen, that helps me a lot. I ride a big bike, so wheelies should be easy right? lol Basically it just comes down to me being a pussy who freaks out every time the front starts lifting. I think I'll go find a place to practice sometime soon... my bike really has absolutely no problem with pulling up in first gear.

Riding isn't only about the scratching on a Sunday morning. Sometimes it's about the 400 mile ride on Saturday to get to where you'll be scratching on Sunday morning with a 400 mile ride home that evening.

if you wheelie while they are on the sidewalk and you start the wheelie when you are about near them, there is no danger. the bike will tumble away from them id imagine. i wouldnt wheelie with the kids in front of me or something, id wait till they were way out of the way of the path of the bike

only time my front wheel comes off the ground is if I go wide open on the throttle on a take off and thats only a few inches.. I dont do wheelies.. no need to a bike was built with 2 wheels for a reason.

Snigg,
That is just my opinion. I personally don't attempt wheelies unless I am away from anyone.

I've been told by EVERYONE (especially other owners) that you can't keep the front from coming up in first and second and a little in third. I am the exception to the rule. I am the guy that automatically puts my weight forward. I can launch like a mo'fo but the front NEVER comes up. I'm gonna see how much accelleration I can get w/o the front trying to overpower my weight (which is mostly on my arms during accelleration).

So how come when I throttle up in first, the front wheel stays straight, but when I clutch up second, it turns to the right as soon as it comes off the ground? I can't figure it out damn it.

Yea I would like to be able to wheelie but I don't want to throw the bike down. Dam thing cost to much. Maybe I should get a junker for cheap and practice on it. Maybe something like Snigg's bike....

You might be spinning the tire slightly or pulling on the bars or something. It's you not the bike probably. Old tire?

Oh jesus, much? Like Nevrsumr22 said, everyone likes to see them. I've got 1st and 2nd gear power wheelies down pretty good at this point. My height and distance are good. Now, everyone is taking it a step further with stand ups and clutching it. On the way home from work today on the highway, I'm sitting in bumper to bumper traffic (in the cage) and this kid flies by on the other side on a red & black 03' R1 doing a stand up wheelie and this guy had the balance point....kept it carried for as far as I could see. EVERYONE stopped in traffic was looking, old ladies were confused, young guys were stoked, and I was sitting there thinking.....I'm gonna learn stand ups tonight. So, for the last 2 hours I was out on the back roads, in full gear on the 750, hitting them over and over again.....until I was getting them. By this weekend, I should be a pro. All it takes is practice...again and again.

Every self respecting sport bike enthusiast loves wheelies. If you don't because you're all about the 7\v/1st33z, you need to stop taking yourself so seriously.
