I dropped my bike off at RPM in Gainesville for a valve adjustment. I let it go too long this time (20K miles) and the intakes tightened up and the bike was hard to start. Marc Kradolfer did an awesome job and the bike runs like brand new!
After Marc quit racing and managing teams, he opened a machine shop and is a superb engine builder. If you need engine or machine work go see Marc at RPM Motorcycles
Good to know. I'm in Ocala, so thats not too far of a drive for me. I might see if he can find me an engine for my 600 My local guy (CycleWerks) closed up shop down here.
I have yet to find a single motorcycle ever in over 33 years and thousands of valve adjustments to not have valves needing adjusting. It is an all motorcycle thing that they need adjusting.
on your typical 16v engine usually the first adjustment has it the worst with them the furthest out of spec and the most of them--very typical I am adjusting 14-16 of them, then subsequent adjustments often is is 8-12, but they always need adjustment.
^ Every bike is unique and different, the depicted measurements in my previous post however shows 2 of the exhaust and 2 of the intakes well outside of the "tolerance" then several at the edge of "tolerance.......all of those are always adjusted even if you want to argue that the ones at the edge of spec were still "good" as so many do...
they didn't get to the edge by not moving that is for sure....
