The 2013/2014 MotoGP Off-Season News, Rumors and Other Info Thread

The 2013 Season is over. It has been the most exciting season in MotoGP for a while. Only four points separated the championship. Marc Marquez and Jorge Lorenzo put up epic battles down to the wire. Marc Marquez came through as the most amazing and youngest rookie to take the crown.

What does the 2013/2014 Off-Season hold for us? Valentino Rossi parted ways with legendary crew chief, Jeremy Burgess. Cal Crutchlow took a huge gamble with Ducati. Ducati pipped Aprilia for Gigi Dall’Igna in an effort to revitalize their racing department. Ducati dumped their most loyal rider, Nicky Hayden. Nicky will be trying the new Honda production racer. Colin Edwards and Aleix Espargaro will be testing the waters with the Yamaha-FTR machine. Suzuki is planning to return in 2015 and Aprilia in 2016. What drama, challenges and excitement await? I suspect this is going to be an interesting off-season for us.

How does Aoyama keep getting good rides? Just because he's Japanese? He's sucked on everything since 250s.

Bring on Monday already!

Are the yamahas assembled for the forward riders to test? Haven't seen anything about those bikes yet.

Hope Nicky destroys the ducatis and tech3 bikes on the new honda

It'll be interesting to see what Rossi accomplishes next season after his unceremonious sacking of Jeremy Burgess.

Unceremonious un·cer·e·mo·ni·ous adjective \ˌən-ˌser-ə-ˈmō-nē-əs\ : 1. happening or done very suddenly and quickly with no effort to be careful or polite. 2. having or showing a lack of courtesy; rough or abrupt.

Even as we head to the most important qualifying session of the year for the closest championship since 2006, the major topic of discussion in the paddock is still the schism between Valentino Rossi and Jerry Burgess. A press conference featuring the pair was called by Yamaha yesterday, on Burgess's instigation. The rest of the manly Aussie pit crew slipped in the back door and stood stony-faced at the side of the room and exited just as stealthily at the end of the formal proceedings.

Jerry confirmed it had come as a shock to him, but was very keen to say that if that was what was needed to get Vale back to the front then it was a good thing. JB said he reads lots of sporting biographies and he'd noted that a lot of sportsmen change their caddie or coach in the final years of their career to try and squeeze another couple of years out. Asked afterwards if any of those veterans had benefited from the change he replied succinctly "None."

It will be interesting to see how the rest of the crew handles JB's departure from Rossi's team.

What happened with Spies? Is he riding next year at all or did he get the boot?
