My XT660X came with a set of Verge...
And when I saw them I thought the first thing I'd had to do the bike would be new tires, I was expecting them to be utter crap because of Shinko's reputation. Surprisingly, they weren't utter crap, they are neutral handling tires with quite a bit of grip, IOW, a decent set of tires for the money, but nothing to write home about.
No, I'm not replacing them with more of the same.

Not saying these are amazing track tires. However for people that use their bike daily, 365 days a year here in Florida... and don't have a car, yet still like spirited riding.....these seem to be a good sport touring tire with good grip. They are def. better than the dunlops that came on the bike, and def better than the power pure's i had that lasted like 2 days.

Careful hitting all those corners in FL until you have those tires broken in. New tires are slick, check your club bylaws regarding aggressive riding on new tires without assistance from a road captain.

Shinkos are better than Dunlops or Michelins??? Wow!! Time to throw my Michelin Pilot pures. I must be doing something wrong because the pures lasted more than 2 days on my CBR1000.

I hear ya. I like my Pures. 2 track days, a little snow riding, and plenty of canyon runs and they are still going strong.

Can't argue with this. Sorry CBR250, I was just trying to be a wise-ass, not a dick. Fine line, I guess.

I wouldn't say we're being dicks... Just pointing out the stupid. Any thread with respect would do the same. It just teaches people not to post dumb stuff and that Shinko's are crap.

Had some shinko 009's on my zx6e. They did great for spirited riding and commuting.
Wouldnt fly on the 848.

what some call "spirited" others call driving like an old lady. I know plenty of people that gave the shinko's a try for the hell of it being so cheap. the #1 thing they noticed the poor handling at turn in and at any kind of lean angles. and the important feedback from the tire.
#2 was the lack of grip under any kind of aggressive riding.
#3 was lack of confidence they felt after they experimented with the grip levels.
would I use some if I needed to travel to work. sure. for some canyon riding...I'd spend my money on something better.
this is also coming from someone (me) that has no issues leaning his bike at full lean with brand new tires. so yes I will put a tire through a decent test lol
