I personally have no use for the sort of club with all the rituals and foofaraw.
I belong to several Ducati clubs, and have enjoyed them. I belong to a couple local forums that post rides (during riding season here, anyway). I belong to an antique motorcycle club, which is all about the old bikes; they do both rides and bike shows. And I used to belong to a couple meetup groups that were just about doing rides -- I haven't found the local ones since I moved across the country, but might look come spring. There are plenty of options.

Today's word of the week is 'foofaraw'
foo·fa·raw
/ˈfo͞ofəˌrô/
Noun
A great deal of fuss or attention given to a minor matter.
Showy frills added unnecessarily.
That is all.

This post is a prime example of what is wrong with society.
The OP wrote a coherent post, asking for advice regarding motorcycle clubs, as he has no relevant experience.
You posted nearly inarticulate drivel. Inarticulate in that you some how failed to use the spell checker which is built into every current web browser, substituting abbreviations for actual words. Drivel in that you neither answered the question, nor provided any useful information.
In short, reported.
To the OP - I have ridden with some Iron Order members before and they were all good sorts, and gave me minimal grief for choice of bikes. Did a 500 mile run with them, and there was no squidly-ness, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover they enjoyed corners as much as I did (And that those big ass cruisers took them as well as they did - which goes to show how much experience I have riding cruisers).
I don't know about joining a club, but from my experience they have serious riders.

Actually I'm a lot more of a spelling/grammar nazi when i'm not using my touchscreen on my phone.
But you know what's missing? The club atmosphere. I've been around a lot of clubs, and they all have a pretty raw sense of humor. If what I said was 'overboard', then he's not club material.
That being said, I did also notice, after a much more friendly reply to him in another thread, that he was over here creating a whole bunch of new threads, basically about the same crap.
And yes, he bought a bike, and doesn't enjoy it without other riders? WTF? So he bought a bike to make friends. I'm not hating on him at all, not even his PM that I barely scrolled through (quite lengthy and my old man eyes can't handle that much reading ).
His generation is getting babied all over the place. that has no place in motorcycling. YOu're gonna get a reality check really quick. If you want friends, go find them. If you want to ride, ride. its that simple. Clubs? What IS a club?
My post was articulate enough, and more important, loaded with wisdom. There is a tone for each message, and sometimes messages need to get thumped into a melon...and judging from the tone is posts from other threads, I chose wisely (I now see I was right). At least he was forced to think about my post, though it seems to have driven him deeper into denial.
Overly friendly clubs are going to use him...is that better than a rude awakening? Trust me, groggy awakenings don't exist to people with his mentality...I had it back when I was his age and ran into 'dry spells'

We have had a few squidly types join our club and now the ones that are still with us wear gear and have been to the track a couple times. If he finds a good club then it might save his life or at least make him a better safer rider.

As soon as it warms up, I hope. I didn't get custody of the trailer though, so I'll have to source a new one or see if it's better to rent one for the trip.

I am NOT looking for a 1% club....you know, the Sons Of Anarchy type shit. Just a club that loves riding often and having fun.
Anybody out there have any experience with a MC? What do you all think of MC's? Let me know!

I've recently started riding with a riding group... Not a club though. There are no prospects or membership criteria or anything like that. It's just a group of local people that get together to ride. There's a facebook page that people post up rides. There is no pecking order or anything. Anyone can post that they're riding, and maybe others will join them, maybe not not. There is some squidliness sometimes... which is why I always volunteer to ride in the back of a group ride. I tell them that if I disappear not to worry, I probably just decided to go off on my own.
It's cool to see the mix of bikes together on rides as well. It's not uncommon to see basically every major type of bike you can think of together on one ride. Sport bikes, cruisers, adventure bikes, baggers, even the odd chopper thrown in the mix.
Personally, I wouldn't really want to join a motorcycle 'club.' See if you have a riding group similar to what I talked about around you.

The quality of your posts are really declining lately. I used to enjoy your posts and respect your opinions... But lately I find myself just shaking my head at most of what you post here.

There are dozens of groups (not including clubs), probably more!
He lives in an area so populated with sport bike riders you can't drive 1/4 mile without seeing one. On any given Sat or Sunday, the roads just to the N/NE of Tampa are swarming with groups of bikes of all kinds. Go further east into n central fl and it gets even more covered in them.
