And since I never really address the Op's question, I think you'll be happiest on the R1. Reason's being, first and foremost, $4k is a good chunk of change, you think 200 miles is a long ride, and everybody knows a 14 is too fat to turn well. It ranks somewhere between a Harley Ultra glide and the USS Gerald R. Ford.

I don't know, I've been on a couple of carriers doing rudder tests and they will heel over better than a 14!! and OP, I'm a Kawasaki guy and I would take the R1 myself. I would only take a 14/Busa if I was doing really long rides.

Uh-huh. And what is your particular level of experience with a ZX-14(R)? Ever ridden one on a racetrack?

Why yes actually. And I got passed by a grandma on a Zuma. I couldn't decide if it was because I was on a land barge or because I was a virgin.
Must have been the bike.
I have about 15k street miles on it though. Let me tell you, I know both Starbucks within a 100 mile radius!

Well there was a heavy dose of sarcasm in there. It's kind of like how fat people make fat jokes before all the skinny people can make them.
I love my 14. It is probably one of the best all around street bikes ever built In my biased opinion. It's big and comfy, power is huge and yet easily controlled, it makes lots of torque at any RPM, incredibly smooth and eats miles like there is no tomorrow.
It's only real downside(2nd only to those hideous mufflers on the 12) is it's weight which is not near as much of a handicap as the 1k/600 snobs make it out to be. The handling will never be as good as it's more svelte cousins but it can be improved quite dramatically with a few quick and relatively cheap mods. The exception being the relatively mushy front end. Which is easily fixed if you weigh about 90 lbs.
There. That is enough being serious for one post.
I also lied before. There is only one Starbucks within 100 miles. I just didn't want people to think I grew up way out in the sticks or something.

Don't know if you know or not, but KeS owned and tracked a 14. I'm sure he can relate. I know I can. I've test ridden the 14R and adore that bike, maybe in 10 years. My ZZR1200 was even heavier than both, and short of the rough ride that the engine pushed on that bike I didn't mind the weight a hell of a lot. My current bike does feel like a fucking toy compared to it, though.

I had 60k miles on my 08 zx14, about 12 track days and 15 or so dragstrip days. It really is an impressive do it all machine which is why I will own another to sit next to the BMW.

I'm sorry to put on my "Grammar Nazi" hat, but after reading your posts, and trying to be helpful to you, I must ask the questions:
Are you capable of writing a sentence in English? Is English your native language?

Since you're going liability only, I presume that means you're paying cash for the bike? Just a reminder that if you finance the bike, the finance company will most assuredly want you to have full coverage to protect their asset.
