Some 2013 Daytona "1st ride" reviews
Oh boy...
2013 Triumph Daytona 675R First Ride - Motorcycle USA
The best bike they have EVER ridden? I like this article the best, it explains the changes very well.

The British know how to update a bike.

Forget 250s. This is the best handling bike you can buy.
|
New additions:
slip/assist clutch (moto usa article explains this well)
switchable ABS. 3 modes, on/off and circuit. Circuit will only engage if the tire locks up. Can even do stoppies while in circuit mode.
New chassis and engine.
Now for bike porn...can you say lean angle?
David Lopez (Triumph test rider) showing the journalists how it's done. Did a 1:42.26 on a factory stock bike. Sam Lowes did a 1:35.9 on a WSS Honda CBR600RR.

Can't wait to see it in person @ the IMS.

It's not at the IMS. Only the 2013 Street Triples. They have a 2012 Sulfur Yellow Daytona (ugly greenish yellow). I was hoping to see it when I went, but alas it wasn't there. The Tiger 800XC was sweet though.

Does it still blow hot air out the right side like a hairdryer aimed at your leg?
Looks thoughtfully improved, though.

Probably, all of that heat i motor and radiator I think.
BUT you can sing chestnuts roasting on an open fire all year, that entire sub-frame seat and all heats up when you get stuck in traffic.
....reading that my lust for a 675 R increased exponentially.

But, the fact that you “certainly hope” I wear a helmet is so condescending it makes me want to ride a tricycle completely naked doing doughnuts in your front yard screaming Beastie Boys lyrics at midnight. Trust me, you do not want that. My buttocks are extremely pale and unsightly, especially in moonlight.

Why would you spend all that money and not have all of your models on display?! Brilliant!

Who knows. It may have not been ready in time for the first show, and they don't want to debut it at show's halfway through the tour? I still think it's ugly. 06-08 is the best looking version of the Daytona. First gen Street Triples look the best as well.

Stop being bitter because you don't own one.
Now watch the video.

Could also have been because it wasn't "officially" announced yet.

I don't like how the 675R is only avaiable in white...black would look killer. If I was to buy any middleweight sportbike new, it would definitely be the Daytona 675R. There's just so much in the package: top notch suspension, awesome power & torque (for a middleweight), the unique sound of the triple, coolness/rarity factor (most sport bikes around here are the big 4 Jap brands)

I c wut u did thar.
however, it's true. not a few months ago, the new kawi was the best goddamned thing ever in the middleweight segment.
now suddenly this just blows its fairings off. it's so much better that it is, without doubt, the single best bike they've ever tested.
until the next 600 class machine is tested. then, it will have the same adjectives thrown around, the same things said nicely about it, and the same amount of pages saying "yamaha/honda/kawi/suzuki/whatever" on them.
mag reviews mean nothing. we all know the 675 is a hell of a bike. it's not like they're gonna make it perform worse.

But the video is no mag review. In it, you can see how the ABS in "circuit mode" saves the rider (David Lopez), and how quick he can flick from side to side.
In fact, the video in the Moto-USA article is sponsored by KAWASAKI!

That's why I like the race track shootouts. You can't hide from lap times. I remember one of the mags was comparing the 848, Gixxer 750, and a few others. The whole article read like a Ducati ad. "OMG, the sound! THe handling! The engine! The sexy looks!" Then, almost as an afterthought,
"Uhhh ... the gixxer beat it by 2 seconds per lap all day long."

ALL the 600 class sport-bikes are so f**king good you can't go wrong with any of them. Looks are highly subjective.
