But, every piece of gear comes with the mating side of the zipper, so you can take it somewhere where they would sew the mating zipper end to the other item of gear. That's how I got my shift jacket to mesh up with my leather pants.

It depends on the brand. Alpinestars almost always provides you with the mate side of the zipper but it is Dainese policy to NEVER supply them.

Well that's just mean. Luckily, the jackets I'm looking at are both Alpinestars.

Do all jackets come with the zipper? From the pictures, one of these jackets looks like there is no zipper.

I'm assuming they view it as a liability issue. Someone could conceivably take the mating zipper, sew it in with regular ole dress making cotton thread to a pair of pants, then goes out and has zipper failure during a crash. Are they liable? Possibly

Some jackets do not have a zipper at all

How many of you ride with no zip? Safe enough?

I expect to have a spill eventually. Everyone does. The higher the chance of me walking away unscathed, the better.

I do when comutting, but truth be told, I feel "naked" when doing so.

I'm normally not zipped. My icon jacket doesn't have a zipper. I've had two low side going down right side and never had the jacket (fieldsheer razor) ride up. I'm partly thinking that's b/c it's tight around my waist and I was sliding on my shoulder.

Remember......Keep the rubber side down!!!!
