The gap between the rider and the truck dimished fairly quick. Cant tell if the rider was going faster than the truck, or if the truck driver reduced its speed fairly quick. Either way, you dont pass a vehicle on a one lane road, right after reducing such gap.

Okay, so just because some drivers don't use signals you are saying nobody should? I'm not talking about what the OP did was right or wrong. That truck made that turn like a dickhead. He should have flipped his turn signal on before the turn came up, as he was slowing down. You should always be aware of what is behind before you slow down for anything.

Should we expect drivers to behave like this? No of course not, It doesn't mean we should make it an acceptable standard.

I'm usually super careful when passing in such situations. I've gotten more paranoid after watching all those Youtube videos...

More importantly, you should always pay attention to what's in front of you and maintain safe distance (meaning the responsibility in this case lies more with the motorcyclist).

The truck could have suddenly braked for an animal or an obstacle, which wouldn't involve a turn signal. What would be your excuse then?




I'm an avid motorcyclist/tracker/racer like some of you guys. But you guys need a reality check if a car turning left is the dick. A rapidly approaching motorcycle who attempts to pass without reading the traffic is in the wrong.

Not sure where you got the nobody should use their turn signal idea from my comment.

No, the person behind should be aware what the person in front is doing, not the other way around.

I've been to Orland Florida a couple of times, and drivers there are just as bad as the truck driver in the video, and DC/VA/MD.
