Yeah, absolutely atrocious. Sorry, just my opinion I'm 30, so wasn't even born when that original was new. In fact, I never even gave motorcycles a 2nd look until 10 years ago when I started riding.

To me it looks like Honda trying to copy the H-D streetglide / roadglide style bikes.

Well, one of the best. And yes, alot of people/critics do. Matter of opinion................but yes, this looks terrible.

Your opinion is wrong!!!
But yeah, I understand. I'm younger, but I was born around motorcycles, so I can relate to these designs. To me that CB1100 is gorgeous, and I like how they bring back these retro styles lately.
A little less retro, but Kawasaki seems to be bringing back the ZXR 1200 in Europe. Looks great!
Edit: I correct myself. As I think others have mentioned here, Honda has been selling this retro CB in Japan for a while now.

I'm assuming you mean ZRX1200?
Most of the offerings are, as expected, ho-hum. I quite like the goldwing surprisingly, though.

Funny, the only bike I like in RedWhiteBlue is German.

Damn, I went back and forth between your post and mine without figuring out the mistake... Yes! The ZRX.
I need new glasses.

The cross-country is one HELL of a bike. Honda could do worse than emulate its style and performance.

I wouldn't mind grabbing that 500 for commuting. It's probably more comfortable and more fuel efficient then my F4i is. Hell, I wouldn't mind grabbing another kawi 500r, that thing was more than enough fun for commuting and I was getting 50-55 mpg (compared to my 36-39 on the F4i)

Just a little bit more than that.
New rear shock, Dual stage fuel injectors (one set for low/mid, and another for mid/high rpms), dual stage ram air, radial mounted front brake calipers, Big piston front suspension. Although they aren't say anything about a new engine. I hope it picked up a few ponies, if it's going to compete with other 600s.
To each their own, that's why we are human and have opinions. IMO, the new CBR600RR looks better than the new 636. I like it better than anything the Big 4 Japanese put out.
I like the 500, too. However, it is too heavy.
|
You are correct about the other changes, no doubt about it - my comment was much more an expression of disbelief that there isn't an entirely new bike. This generation came out in 2007 and frankly, the newer ones have fewer horsepower. I guess I was expecting something completely new rather than what amounts to an upgrade of the current bike. We should have expected it though - the CBR1000RR had essentially the same thing done to it - same frame and engine and new bodywork and some suspension and wheel upgrades.
Well you can see which bikes Honda believes will add the most to the bottom line.

I'll stick with the used bikes, they're cheaper and less fugly lol.
|
Agreed, and its a damn shame. Originality in sportbike aesthetics(Japanese at least) seemed to have come to a halt around 2004, IMO. No lines, no flow, no character. Same sharp edges and cheap ass plastic bits year in and year out only with VERY subtle changes.
I bet if you removed the decals, most people wouldnt be able to tell one year from the other. Hell alot probably wouldnt be able to tell one make from the other.

I agree. The CBR600 headlights remind me too much of the 2012 Camero headlights... not digging the styling at all.

R6 styling peaked in 2006.
