Spies really hasn't opened up since his contract with Yamaha expired. I thought he had some things to say...

I always thought that the contracts ran until Dec. 1 to allow testing on new teams in Dec. I may be wrong though.

Contracts last until the end of the year. In reality a manufacturer can block a rider from testing another manufacturers bike in Valencia after the final round.
Also, just because a rider is not with a certain manufacturer anymore doesn't mean they will spill the beans. If he or she does say something than you can bet it won't the full story. You would be surprised as to what the riders cannot say or expose when it comes to internal affairs EVEN when not under contract.
