Obligatory new bike thread.
Electronic suspension, traction control, ABS, heated grips, trip computer, tire pressure display. As long as the battery stays charged I can't lose.

Sweet Kev. The K1300S is an amazing bike.

Nice! I was seriously considering one of these for two up light touring to replace my FZ1. What turned me off to it were the reviews complaining of vibrations, with my carpal tunnel my hands would go numb with too many vibes. How has it been so far?

Not perfect in the vibe department. Look to the ZX-14R if you want that perfect engine smoothness. My friend and I used to swap bikes (he had a K1200S and I a ZX-14) - and we'd get off and shake our heads at each other, and say "I want THAT (ZX-14) motor in THAT (BMW) chassis!".
But it does lots of other things very, very well.

Actually, for two-up I'd look at the FJR since you're already a Yamaha guy.

Never understood the "pictures of yours" thing. It's a new bike - what does it look like? It looks like all the other new ones!

Pretty much, as a general rule, anything BMW makes is going to be a good bike. Congrats!

After owning a BMW bike for a while, I honestly don't know if I can ever seriously consider something else. They are REALLY nice, and they make such a variety...

For me the dealership makes a big difference. I can actually get test rides just by asking, they speak like adults, and they usually know something about their products. I actively *hate* walking into the local Big Four dealerships.

Fuck yes.
I demoed one of those and no one warned me it was a 160hp bike and not a boxer.
So when I wrapped it back I got something of a surprise.

Trust me, you do not want that. My buttocks are extremely pale and unsightly, especially in moonlight.

175hp actually. It's a lot lighter than a Busa or the current ZX-14, actually, too, which is nice.
But I have to be one of the few people who really likes that monoshock front end. You constantly see reviewers bitch about the "lack of feel", but I don't get that impression at all. And the lack of brake dive and way it works when the bike is laid over just makes it a great, stable platform to ride from. I've always been a fan.

There has been a run of people on Sport-Touring.net replacing FJR's with BMW's. it's up to 4 in the last two months.
I didn't notice too much vibration with the 1300. I'm sure you'll be able to dampen it.
I absolutely agree with the dealership comments. That's why my last 5 bikes have been 2 aprilia's, a Ducati, and 3 BMW's. Well I did have a KLR in that run too.
