Oh no, I really hope this doesn't jeopardize seeing how the 1199 does in WSBK. Not wanting to sound like a "fanboy", I just like seeing a variety of bikes on the grid.

i dont know if this has come up, but the new panigale with its CF frame like the previous MotoGP bike, wouldnt it technically have similar "feel" issues on this level as well?

Oh, you can bet it HAS come up. Rather excessively.

MotoGP and WSBK put very different stress on the chassis, be it for the very different tyres, electronic controls, or simply because of the speeds.

But even so, it's debatable wether Ducati's problems with the CF monocoque in MotoGP were based on the use of CF. The D16 had/has several more, perhaps bigger problems with achieving the desired feeling for their riders.

Having said that, the relative performance of the Panigale in SBK is yet to be proven, and I hope we can see a man like Checa taking a shot at it.

I don't mean to step on our official informer, Mr. Max Deutsch's toes, but was just reading this

"Yamaha open to WSBK Return"
Yamaha open to World Superbike return - News | Motorcycle Sport | WSB Results | World Supersport | MCN

And: Mundial SBK 2013: Ducati cambia Althea por Batta y sigue con Checa | Solomoto | SBK (spanish)

Solomoto is comfirming the Alstare deal with Ducati for 2013... (not the first time they confirm things prior to confirmation, though)
