There are quite a few 2004-05 zx10r's rolling around that truly weigh in around 390.

Wonder why the 300 is so damn heavy.

Because it's a cheap beginner bike. Not optimized for maximum weight savings. Add in ABS, and it adds up.

This. It's the same fundamental design since the 250s from the 80s. The cost of pursuing weight savings really isn't worth the benefit when the margins are so slim.

The market has proven many times over that it won't buy an expensive bike with lower power unless there are license limitations (Japanese 400cc class). Today if you're under 100hp then the price had better be a bargain. I don't think 600's would be long for this world if they stopped racing the class either, which would be a shame (for 600's to go away).

$4799. A lot for a "little" bike but this sounds like it will be better than the other ones in every way. I wonder if Honda will drop the CBR250 a couple hundred to stay in it?

OMG am i impressed with the new 300. saw one last night in person.

thank god no longer can noobs talk about starter bikes not looking sporty enough. that bike looks amazing! i was seriously impressed.
