I hate ride to work day. All these clowns who don't ride get out there and we have way more.accidents. every year there is always two or three fatalities or major accidents.
:/

Because no one is allowed to just have motorcycling as a casual hobby.
If you don't ride in miserable weather & year round you're just a poser soon to be another statistic right?

I don't thank that was what Jo was getting at. I believe what was meant was that all the people that generally just ride casually ride to work, having many more bikes on the road riding in times and conditions they are not used to.

I thought that was pretty obvious.

I'm down. Used to ride to work almost every day when I lived 18 miles away from my job. I just moved and now I am only 3.3 miles away from work. It seems like too much trouble to unlock the bike, get it out of my building and gear up just to ride 3 miles so unless I have the bike out anyhow I usually drive to work now.
On a side note, I have heard continually that you shouldn't start your engine for only a few minutes as it builds up condensation that doesn't get time to dry out riding. Is a three and a half mile trip long enough for your engine to burn off that moisture or not?

I'm failing to see the significance of this holiday lol.
I will be riding to work that day though, if its not raining. Same as any day.

You start out motorcycling with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.
Some people are like slinkies; they're good for nothing but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

I didn't call anyone a poser. I don't have an issue with hobbiest- well- sometimes I do- but it has more to do with the fact they are "hobbiest" and have been "hobbying" for longer than I have been riding they think they seriuosly know better and try to tell me what's going on....
but those folk aside- fine- whatever that wasn't the point. I'm a heavy hobbiest- I can't commute because my job typically won't let me (i would if I could) but I commute when I can regardless of all weather-throuhout the year but given I drive my truck most often- I have no room to say I'm a die hard year rounder.
The point was there is a huge influx of people on bikes- and the bike people aren't prepared and the car people aren't prepared and invariably ride to work day always seems to garner more attention regarding the accidents rather than the positive aspect of it.
its a safety issue- not a commentary about all the fair weather riders who come out on "ride to work day" although those people make me laugh are- the ones that won't come out on ride to work day if it rains.
