I hate how they always put up a pic, even though they have no idea of what it looks like
Patent documentation only revealed engine details, giving no clue about aesthetics. Expect the production RVF1000R to resemble a cross between the current CBR and the wheel-less V4 Concept debuted at Intermot 2008.

The Pommy MCN has been trotting this out every three years or so, it was going to be an 800 then a 1000 V5 when the GP bikes went four stroke (yes this has been around at least this long). Then a fireblade replacement, then a 1200 monster so the VFR 1200 got universally panned as it was a sports touring bike and not a sport bike like they predicted. All the stories patent references and artists renderings have one thing in common they have never actually manifested themselves into an actual bike let alone a production road bike.
With Honda up too its eye balls in its GP push to try and get the high ground back I don't see a major WSBK effort and its WSBK that requires homlogation production runs.

This needs to happen. I'm not really a Honda fan, but Honda can pull off some amazing shit when they put their pride on the the line. This would be good news for the whole market. A sign of life!

The talk of "deriving" a racebike motor from the VFR1200 is nonsense. If Honda produces a 1000cc V4 homologation special (and it would be very cool if they did), it will be 90-degree and DOHC--an upsized RC212, not a downsized VFR.

Either way, knowing Honda, it'll cost $20,000.

Really it would be a logical move for them, would put all of that MotoGP development money into a project that would actually generate revenue.

Hell, you can't hardly get a 600 for under $12,000 anymore
Sadly, it's not just Honda...

Considering that the RC45 was a very similar idea, and was about $27K, 17 years ago, your estimate is probably well on the low side.
