My choice for best 80's bike would be the RD350LC...think ye call it the RZ?
I had two of these as a teenager....

Thanks. The 93 is going to be well cared for as it's a former Superbike that was raced in AMA, WSBK and at the Macau GP in it's glory days. I bought it off the original team owner/builder this past summer. I've had the 91 since the spring of 1994. It's always been ridden a little every year and I'm going to keep doing that.
Here's the 93 in race form as it sat in the previous owner's garage last spring:

I was 12 years old and a guy in my neighborhood had one and at the time I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Then I discovered boobs.

Was it an old Muzzy's bike?
Correct me if my memory is shot, but those had the flat slide carbs and close ratio gearbox, right?

It's not and old Muzzy's bike, but it has alot of Muzzy's parts on it. When I bought it, the previous owner/builder/team owner told me it was not, but I was hoping it was so when I got it home I tore it down to check for the frame bracing Muzzys put on their superbikes. It doesn't have any of it. So it is just as it was advertised to me: a privateer ZX7R. There's nothing wrong with that , though. I'm stupidly happy with this bike.
You are right, from Kawasaki these had the flatslides and the close ratio transmission.

It definitely has the right look from the outside. Oh well, it's still a really sweet bike.
During my first attempt at racing, there was a guy in the group that I hung out with who had one of Steve Grigg's old Raptors. This was after the SRAD 750's came out, but that thing was a rocket (and he was using the 750 motor, not the 800-something big bore). His spare wheels were worth more than my bike at the time.

Thanks.
I was a coin toss away from buying a Raptor new back in the day. I just didn't want to spend that much money at the time. Looking back I should have bought one. I love those bikes.
