I see your $120 leather pants and I raise you my $60 leather pants with CE Knee protector and pucks. Craigslist FTW. Brand new Shift leather jacket $160. Gloves $50. HJC Helmet $130. Although I haven't bought motorcycle specific boots yet. Just using a pair of steel toed combat boots.

Hum.....
My shit
Helmet - about 120
Gloves - 100
Boots - 150 - survived 2 crashes, one were the bike was sliding on my foot. My knee sliders and boot actually kept it from having too much damage, it was nice.
Suit - 450 - 2 crashes, still in great shape.
Buy quality first, and you don't have to buy again. Quality doesn't always have to be expensive either.
Or don't crash, that helps too.

helmets can be had at closeout for $45-85 all day, just look around i dont feel like it right now. also you can go used and run into decent stuff obviously. personally i would want some better gear eventually but this stuff will get you on the track and keep you protected plenty for a fall or two if it should happen. if you decide to go deeper into the sport, then by all means splurge on high end stuff. 'tis a fool that thinks that high price = quality and vice versa. one of the shittiest suits you can get are motoGP kangaroo suits for $1,200.

April 24th!! lol - i put a big post in but i guess u missed it...
I had the 650 for 17 months - 17,000 miles -sold it for $3,750 - never took it for anyting except the first service and did my own oil chantes
It had some crash damage too.
Then I bought a new leftover (300 miles LOL) 04 636 for $4,750 OTD w/ a 2 yr Kawi warranty. Had about $300 of crash damage - cracked peg, and mirror cracked off a piece of upper fairing. Owner had dropped it once and sold it back. It sat, and i made a great lowball offer.
Victory was mine

WOW what a find. My buddy has an 04, and I think that 636 is one the best looking sportbikes, period.

Yeah, and to boot, the dealer is right by my job/house and some friends of mine work there.
I cant say enough about the bike. Rough suspension and not that comfy (seat, wrists)are my only complaints, but I can log in 2 hour rides @ 6'6'', so I really cant complain.
The power of this thing is really unsurpassed by the 600s, IMO. Very happy w/ my purchase - this bike is beautiful and has a GREAT rumble.

ninja 650R IS a Kawasaki last I checked...
Oh, and Scorpion EXO700 from new enough for $109, A* SMX-4 off E-bay for $75, Power Trip Powershift jacket from Motorcycle Superstore for $130 last year, and Power Trip GP gloves for $0 from the dealer when I bought the bike. Still riding in jeans but that's because I can't find pants to fit - I'm fat, shut up.

I have full gear except boots. Hard to find size 16's that aren't super expensive so I wear a pair of black work boots.

Personally I think my head is worth more than 50 bucks. I got a closeout $400 Arai RX7. I might cheap out on other gear, just not the helmet.
