If you switch to the 70 front tire, move your forks down 10mm to compensate for the taller tire.

Otherwise you will have pretty sluggish turn in.

I've had the exact same problems with the BT021's. I'm on my second front and the first only a had around 3000 miles on it. The sides were completely bald and the center wasn't too bad.
