The only tires that are close to the Road 2's are the BT0016's I believe..and they have a triple compound instead of double.
My friend just put a Diablo Strada on his rear...HOLY SHIT. Definitely the thickest tire Ive ever seen. The tread is at LEAST half an inch into the tire...I told him hes gotta try skimming across ponds now.

When I ran a diablo strada last year or the year before i was very impressed. Launching in the rain it was rediculous how well it handled the water.

He mentioned the Bridgestone BT-016? It's comparable to the 2ct. I just passed 3k miles on mine, and they still look new, I just now have worn off the "center hump". The tire actually looks like a symmetrical arc. I'm looking to get like 8-9k out of it.

I have a little over 9k, and I'm going to end up getting 10k or so out of my current BT-020's, but I have never trusted them for aggressive riding. The previous owner had done only touring-type riding, so he chose them and they were almost new when I got the bike. Thinking about the same type of longevity, but with soft rubber on the sides excites me for sure.

the bt-016 are better or the same as than the 2ct.
they are not touring tires like the pilot roads. they are hypersport tires. the compound thing isn't what makes a tire what it is.
even the bt-021 is a dual compound and are comparable to the pilot road

those I think came stock on my brother's FZ6. he was dragging his knees with them. he said they would sometimes slide a tiny bit but it didn't bother him.

Yes, the shoulder of the BT-016 is VERY soft. The center is kind of like a BT-021. a medium-hard compound. They are predictable when losing grip, they aren't like Michelin that let go and surprise you all at once. They will "alert" you so to speak. Also the shoulder isn't like a Michelin at all. Michelins they are either upright or all at once on the side. The BT-016 let's you just "fall" into a corner. Overall, these are THE best street tire, imo. They have grip, feedback, predictability, and longevity. Some even do trackdays with these tires.
If it were my guess, I'd say the BT-016 goes about like this left to right.
Shoulder / Mid-shoulder / Center / Mid-shoulder / Shoulder
BT-002 / BT-014 / BT-021 / BT-014 / BT-002

The bt-16's get too greasy with any serious riding. Expessially on the track. They just opperate at too low of a temp.

The BT016s on my ZX-14 wore the front out (sides) before the rear in 3500 miles of mostly street use (one mild class/trackday); unprecedented for me on that bike to wear the front out first. I agree that you really know when you hit that outer compound in the rear, the bike starts moving around quite a bit; to the point where I adjusted my apex to the inside of the curb to compensate for the drift. Extremely neutral profile.

Im planning on getting some new tires for my R6. After some research im going to pick up some pilot powers.
However I have a size question, the stock size for the r6 front is 120/60 ZR 17, however alot of people say to go with the 70 instead of the 60. Im just wondering if there are any r6 owners who run a 70 front end, and if they needed to modify the fender in any way.

I've been reading up on them recently, and apparently that's pretty common.

nope, on the 03+ you are good.
you'll notice the difference of the two right away.
pilot powers are good tires they are just over priced. if you pay more than $200 for them in my opinion you're getting hosed. because you can get much better tires for $239. like the bt-016 and the bt-003rs.
