think about taking off from a light in your car hard and crossing the painted cross walk. if you are accelerating hard you tires will chip as they slip on the paint and then grab the asphalt.

My Viper just rips the paint off the road, so I dont have that problem.

When road crews use that tar mixture to seal cracks in the road they get polished and shiny after a month or so of cars driving on them. I felt my back tired slip just an inch or two right after I got my bike and have been scared of it ever since. Too bad too; the most fun part of my commute is covered in little tar lines.

4" lines like lane dividers aren't really any sort of issue. The painted lines that can be slippery when wet are the very fat white lines painted in intersections.

But that's when you rev it to 10 grand dump the clutch and come out smokin, like "LiViN's EasY"'s avatar!

ummm...if he pulled the clutch under the assumption it was the brake he would have just pretty much just fell over and not shot of into a wall...did the wall jump into him??

This is probably true. I don't know, I wasn't there to make fun of him. But how he managed to mistake the clutch for the break, I don't know.

Just goes to show that there are people who should not be allowed on bikes. Course, now, after I say this I'll probably do something as equally stupid.

Its absolutely amazing that people are not only able to ride where there R lines aggressivly but to actually race on them. Lines are not as sticky as pavement, however I offer this video as evidence they can be negated safely, non issue, just dont ride on the damn things if they are wet.

I can attest to this. I was pulling up to an intersection where there were turn signals painted on the asphalt, and it was quite wet out. I stopped and put my foot down unbeknown to me on the painted signal, and it almost went right out from under me leading to a near-fall.

Yellow lines are like yellow snow - stay away.

You're probably thinking of lines that are heat-adhered rather than painted. Many of the fat lines denoting intersection points are put down this way. They are thick and slick.

Last summer, I was coming up to the road I needed to turn on a little too hot. I was on the front brake when I went into the turn lane. As soon as my tires hit the paint. That was June 4th. It was mid August before I could ride again, due to the surgery to repair my broken scaphoid. I am now VERY nervous when going over paint, and try to avoid it when possible.
