There was rumor that DORNA was going to buy Kawasaki's '08 bikes and hire the team to run them, with a separate operation to build motors, etc. Personally, I find that hard to believe on a couple of fronts, but who knows?

I go Beltway blitzin' on my mad mofo musclebike WFO. Its a true choice, a god-like experience if you will. The thought that I could buy the farm in a spectacular fireball...................well, that gives me a stiffie! Tesco Vee/The Meatmen
Well, if the numbers that I heard were correct, Kawasaki claimed it cost 9 mil (Euro) to run the team for the year. Supposedly the fine they will pay DORNA is 20 mil. If that's really the case, DORNA could foot the bill on the fine and still be ahead.
Problem with all of that is Kawasaki very likely doesn't want anyone outside of their employ looking inside their bikes. When Honda leased motors to Kenny Roberts, they couldn't even take the covers off from what I read. That's why I say I doubt it would happen.
On a side note: Hopper could very easily wind up in the AMA if he doesn't end up on a WSB ride somewhere. At this point, I don't believe there are any WSB teams that are looking for riders though. Some people think Hopper is done in MotoGP.

Well AMA is not going to be much this year either, I suspect that Kawi was only the beginning. But why would kawi drop out if it cost them more to do so? And as far as their technology goes, its last years, and was mediocre, may as well let it be known.
That's what I don't understand. If it costs 10 mil to race and it will cost 20 mil to sit, wth sense does that make? Unless DORNA's fine is unenforceable somehow.
In AMA, M4 Suzuki now has a seat open since American Suzuki asked them to release Blake Young, but Hopper has said he's not interested.

What I have been thinking about lately is with the economy in the state it is already in I can understand how some manufacturers are thinking about bailing out of these race teams however with how I look at it, I would think it would hurt them even more. I watch moto gp and superbike, and I will say that the winners sometimes have an influence on the bike I follow. I really enjoyed watching Nicky Hayden and I rode a 08 CBR 1000rr. Now with Hayden going to Ducati, I might have to look for one of them. Maybe I am alone doing this but I would think the dealerships would want the companies to stay in the race leagues. Just my .02 worth
I have no Idea why you would follow such an Idealogy, nicky would have went to suzuki, kawi anyone who would have supported him and given him an opportunity to win.
They R all good bikes, and all above the vast, vast majority of our abilities.
