Default State farm question?

Since I had a claim on my bike in the first year will state farm drop my coverage?

I have no tickets and 31 yrs old. I also have car and renters insurance with them.

my dad says hes heard that state farm will drop you if u have a claim within the first couple years.

Its making me nervous so ive been shopping around for a new company. state farm is super cheap though for my bike. any other cheap places?

it all depends on your agent. I had a friend who got dropped after one accident and one ticket. I've had two claims and multiple tickets and no drop.

They will rape you with high premiums if they do keep you. They are very good at the rapeage....

My roommate got a letter saying his policy was cancelled because he got a ticket in his car last month. They said they only insure people with no incidents. I have 2 tickets on my record so I would say it depends on your agent.

I seriously doubt that the agent has a say in anything like getting cancelled, it comes from higher up than him. It'll depend on the state where you live, your claim record, tickets, all of that. My son has a pretty crappy claim record with State Farm. He's had several wrecks that were his fault, tickets, and totalled his car last year and they haven't dropped him.

Your agent has no influence on what happens after you file a claim. It gets turned over to claims processing then underwriting for any policy adjustment. You can call your agent and ask what might happen. If you were at fault, a rate hike is likely and will last a couple of years.

If you've been with SF awhile, they'll send you an agreement to 'never drop you.'

Of course, premiums will increase with each incident point.

They work by stats, so if they think they'll lose money with a rider, they drop.

Insurance companies are kinda like the lawyer industry.

ATV & Motorcycle Insurance: Markel American Insurance Co.

These guys were really cheap for me before I switched all our policies over to State Farm for convience reasons.

Just make sure you disclose all claims, tickets, etc. with a new company. If you don't, they'll find out later and give you a very unpleasant surprise.

its all about business, if you got a good rep you will keep your insurance, State Farm has made millions off my family, i have had many traffic violations, and one accident in my 10 years of driving/riding. as long as you dont do anything stupid for a few months you should not have any problems other then higher premiums.

plus you have more then just auto insurance with them so that is helpful.

I wouldn't change policies just yet. Insurance companies are hurting right now too. They're loosening the reigns quite a bit and the market is "softening". If you've had everything else with them for a while they likely won't drop you for it. You don't really have a "new" policy, you just added a vehicle to your existing policy.
