Well there are plenty of tires that aren't sport or track oriented which the average rider won't be able to push past the limits, but for the ninja there is only one option for a tire geared toward aggressive riding and miles aren't going to be a problem on a 250 it doesn't have near the power of any bike or weight. Most people I knew got great life even out of the demons

i've heard great things about the pirelli sport demons, anyone have a price on them? just wondering, if they are expensive i wont be getting them for a while, but just curious.
I didn't say they were up and down better than Pirelli, just said they were definatly trustworthy. As a new rider you don't really need a sticky sport tire. Hell I just replaced my tires with Bridgestone BT45's front and back which are sport-touring and they should last me well over 11,000 - 12,000 miles. Bought and installed and balanced for under $110 each, can't beat that. The BT45 is a better tire for a commuter who likes to ride some corners on the weekend, they more attune to wet weather conditions and such.
I do however prefer Bridgestone over Pirelli or any other tire.
would u recommend the BT45's? i only ask because im simply looking for middle price range tires that i can put on the bike once i wear out the stock ones.
I do recommend them, they are great tires for commuting and corner carving on the weekends, and they will last you a long time. But you have to remember I've ran nothing but bridgestone and I'm obviously biased towards them. I've done 100+mph both straight and during a corner with these tires and they're very stable and they feel very true.
bikebandit.com has a front 110/70-17 for $88.76 (that is stock size for your front tire) and a rear 140/70-17 for $96.98 (only difference is the tire is 10mm wider than stock size) they don't offer the stock sized 130/70-17 rear for your bike but the one I posted will fit just fine without any problems.
They also have a stock size 110/70-17 Pirelli Sport Demon front tire for $105.00 and a stock size 130/70-17 rear is $118.00. So all in all you're paying roughly $37 more for the Pirellis.
I can tell you the Pirelli's will grip more but you wont get the wet traction and overall mileage out of them compared to the bridgestones.
But as for build quality they're both probably on par, Pirelli has a very good rep. Hope I could help you out some.

Dude I've had the rear on mine slide a few times in a turn. Plus they just feel really wierd in turns. I hate them!

I have the same bike as you, and I've got over 13k (90% highway) miles on my stock sized sport demons now and probably have about 2mm of tread left in the center. I dont really have any experience with other tires on the 500, but I am pleased with the overall mileage of them.
