Default Balancing chrome wheels?

Does anyone have any suggestions regarding the methods for balancing chrome wheels? I've seen hammer-on weights that go on the edge of the rim, hammer on weights that go on the center lip of the wheels, and stick-ons. I'm concerned the hammer-ons will scratch the chrome but I'm also concerned the stick-ons will either fall off or stick too good to the chrome causing it to peel when removing for rebalancing. Any suggestions?

Stick-ons will not damage the chrome. It's just like bouble sided tape. When its time to take them off a bit of the sticky foam will be left behind on the rim. Just use wd-40 or rubbing alcohol to remove. Stick-ons will not fall off as long as you clean the spot that the weights are going well. i just use a bit of alcohol. Placing them on the inside diameter of the wheel (not on the side of the rims lip) will cause the wieght to be pressed into the wheel while in motion. The only way it will come off is if the area was not prepped/cleaned prior to sticking the weight to the wheel or someone prys it off.

Thanks! I was leaning towards the stick on weights.

Very easy answer. Remove chrome and use stick on weights.

You could paint over the chrome w/ Krylon, then when you take the weights off the paint will be removed and your chrome will be safe under all the other paint. It'll make your chrome last longer too. :-) A quality chrome job will not be compromized by adhesive wheel weights as long as a proper preping was made prior to plating. (wow, that was alot of P's!) Stick away!
