Agreed. And even in the rare unavoidable ones, one's skill and riding habits can lessen the damage incurred.

Sure, the engine from a 747 can land on you a la Donnie Darko. Does anyone know a guy killed on a motorcycle by a falling 747 engine?

Some of you are pompous as hell. Sometimes you cant avoid an accident. If a car runs a red and you plow into it, it is NOT YOUR FAULT.

You cant be scanning eveyr lane of traffic at every second to see if someone is gonna run the light. There are some parts of riding that are just fate. Even some deer accidents are 99.9% bound to ruin your day, which in my opinion is just not gonna be avoided.

Some of you live in this retarded computer world, where everything you say looks so good as a post, but has no relevance in the real world of motorcycling.

People who crash on the street havent GIVEN UP and "Let it happen". Sometimes it just happens, whether it be your fault or not.

Dale don't confuse fault with avoidance....sure the guy running a red is at fault, but you just can't stare straight ahead and expect to live....survival is my motivation. Avoid the guy by being prepared.

You're confusing "fault" with "ability to avoid." They are not the same. Nobody said that particular scenario would be your fault.

There are many things you can do to avoid plowing into that car, or at least reduce the damage incurred. You can look both directions before you enter the intersection. You can actively slow down. You can cover your brake and clutch. You can practice emergency accident avoidance in an empty parking lot.

Just because something isn't your fault doesn't automatically mean there's nothing you could have done.

Correct. That was already mentioned.

But this thread is specifically about "crashing for no reason," specifically meaning single vehicle accidents. Did you bother to read the original post?

Again, this thread isn't about hitting or being hit by moving objects.

At least we bother to read the original post. Did you write it, or did someone else use your account?

That's true, sometimes you can't avoid an accident. Dale, originally you said that your accident was completely unavoidable. Now you've said it's possible you could've avoided it. That's from experience. Imagine how you'll be with a few more years experience.

Either way, I dont think the Post accident me would have the same accident again.....so I take some blame

I'm looking thorugh the posts again and I don't see anything "pompous" and/or stating that all accidents can be actively avoided by the rider.

I HEAR YA JK - sometimes its a 80/20 split. In which i still dont blame the rider. but yes, avoidable.

other times, its like 99.99999 / .00001. In which I say completely unavoidable, unless you just didnt ride that day...

but some posters want to act like EVERY accident is somehow avoidable. Sounds good in theory, but completely unrealistic.

Sounds like World Peace or something LOL

You said "some of you" and not "WhisperQuiet," nor did you quote him. We aren't mind readers.

Even so, he wasn't pompous and he didn't claim that the rider can always avoid an accident.

I completely agree. Cant just ride like youre in a car. But sometimes the only option to not getting creamed is

"GO GO GADGET COPTER"

You arent a mind reader, but you are a post reader. NO big deal anyways.

Blurr is going to be my proxy on this. He can argue for days, I cant. LOL
