If you're going to use a lift like that, put it under the bike and raise it until it's holding the bike upright. Then strap the bike to the lift and raise it on up. I do it all the time with 800 pound Harleys.

There are other ways to do it, also. You can use one of these stands that lifts the bike up from the bottom. Right now I've got the rear wheel off of the Ol' Lady's dirt bike with it up on a regular sportbike type rear stand.

Just pick up the back end and put it on there..... Seriously its either, your form for doing this is poor or you are really tiny/weak. While I am 6'5" and built like a brick sh*thouse, my neighbor is only 5'7"/150 soaking wet and he has no problem iting a dirtbike onto a stand. That tells me its technique..... Grab the bike by placing hip against the top of rear fender while reaching over ther rear fender and holding the rear grab handle. Use both your arm and your hip to leand the bike towards you and up onto the stand. Once you get the techniaue its pretty easy to get it on there and the bike is very stable.

find some little girls in the neighborhood and have them do it for you (kidding) How high are you trying to get it? If it pretty high, put your stomach on the seat and grab the swingarm and bottom of the fork and lever it up (bad for your back but there is no good way to lift 300# by yourself)

This is weak. Its not like you are wrenching on some one-off big $ custom.

Just get a housemate, friend or neighbor to give you a hand for 20 seconds if you are worried about it. It's not like they would be "wrenching on your bike".

I agree, if you have that fancy ass stand just get some help. A little kid can hold it up straight while you raise it. I always used the basic milk-crate like stands for my dirtbike. Im 5-6 and had no problem getting my 450's on the stands.

Hold the one grip to steady bike, other hand on the frame, or my honda had a bar under the rear fender. Then you lift with your legs, and use your hip to swing it over the stand. Once you get a little part of the bike on, its easy to wiggle it where you want it.
