BMW has been using amber illumination on their cars for 30 years with no changes for this reason.
I see plenty of cars illuminated in blue like Late model Hondas and some Toyotas. Never had a problem ridding at night with it but I do agree that Red is better for your eyes. Have you seen how my cluster looked like before!? if it were red ,amber, or even orange I would be happy but it was an ugly washed out yellow it actually makes it hard to see the LCD Bar graph that I hated this gauage cluster until I changed it to blue now I am happy.

Not a fan of the bright blue, but otherwise pretty nice. The high beam light on my cluster is blue, and even that little tiny light (compared to the whole thing) can be little annoying at times because it's so bright. Having an entire cluster of that would be a nightmare.

The VFR has a light orange-ish color. Best I've encountered yet regarding clusters of any kind. It's really nice on the eyes at night.

Here is the 1098's dash. Personally, I don't like it. I like analog tachs. I think my '03 F4i had the best guages of any bike I've ever owned.

I can't see it, if anything is posted.

Honda seems to make the best gauges, from what I've seen. Simple, has everything you need and usually more, and always an analog tach (most important thing to me).
