So, I'm riding today and theres this guy on a cruiser of some sort weaving in and out of traffic ahead of me, and ventually I end up in front of him by staying in the same lane the whole time. Duh. Next thing I know, this douche is right the fuck next to me in my blind spot in MY lane. Now, I never stay in the same part of the lane depending on what's going on around me, and I totally could have run into this asshat if I had moved over a foot or so. Scared the hell out of me. It's not proper etiquette to start sharing a lane with another bike is it?
Eh… I’ll pull up next to other bikes during stop lights sometimes. Sometimes we will even cruse side by side for a bit if the other biker is cool with that.
Now I would never ride in some ones blind spot, that makes no sense. Either right next to them or a safe distance behind so I don’t know what that was about.
As far as lane sharing etiquette, It just depends on the rider. You can tell within five seconds simply by how they are riding and body English if they are cool with you riding side by side. If you can’t tell just stay back a safe distance.
Side by side in the same lane while moving is a big no-no unless you're CHiPs.
When passing another rider in the same lane (like on a 2 lane road), I always make sure the other rider knows where I am and my intentions first. Usually a slower rider will wave you by.

Never out-ride your ability to react (even stop) within the distance you can see (at least on the street).
Getting passed within my lane is one of my pet peeves. It's one thing if it's someone I regularly ride with but a perfect stranger is a no-no.
Also, it is pretty common to ride staggered formation with a stranger. I normally choose whichever side he/she isn't on but normally the lead rider has the inside line.
He may have been attempting to ride staggered but was a bit too close to your comfort zone...
that or he may have been trying to get close enough to pat you on the bum and yell, "Take me home sailor!"

some cock nozzle on 1 of those low rider choppers passed me about a week ago while i was leaned over switching my petcock ( my old one broke off so now i have a small one that is pretty far under the tank, wow that sounded wrong, anyways) he passed on the left hand side...if i would of leaned a lil more down to get at it he woulda clipped me.
i did a lil power wheelie past him and felt like a fuckin champ afterwards though
