Space ship like. That does not strike me as a timeless design. I suspect the design, particularly the front end to be short lived.
Wow, upon further review I've a new thought. Remember the ugliest sportbike thread? I think in a few years this bike will be there. That thing is just, not my taste, that's for sure.

Honestly, I love it! I think it's a great looking bike as is, if they came out with one looking exactly like that I would wait in line to buy the first one.
Undertail exhaust looked good, but I like the stubby side exit exhaust better. I never have been a fan of exhaust pipes on a bike. When the do the side exit short you can barely tell it's there, it looks so much cleaner.

and are the concept pics on the Net that I was referring to in my post. If the mag pic is from an actual photo, I'd guess that it's going to be closer to that one...not to mention it was actually published in Japan. But who knows, since they're all concepts at this point.

The mag picture has been floating around for some time and was originally released in MCN which has never picked a correct artist rendering in its existence. What makes it far from realistic is that some of the parts are on the current R1 and would not be reused if the bike was redesigned.
Take the tail for example: In the mag pic there are still cutouts for the current (07-08) undertail exhaust. If the exhaust is moved down to the side, then leaving the exhaust cutouts in the tail only results in poor aerodynamics.
As you stated, there all just renderings at this point.
Ride safe.

Anybody remember the supposed 2008 ZX10R photos that were floating around, even in mags? I dont believe any pictures I see unless its been specifically released by the maker of the bike.
