...The thing that noobs don't get is that bikes aren't cars. With a car, more or less, you're as fast as your wallet allows. A bike is far more skill oriented. Way more. It's like skiing. You could go buy the fastest race skis available, but if you don't know how to ski, all you're going to do is crash. Its the same, exactly the same with bikes.

yup. I couldn't agree more. The final product will look minimally similar to the pic.
but, I do like the way it looks. I'd like it better if the exhaust was back under the tail though.

I don't love it, but I like it. I'm sure once I see one up close I'll like it more. I wonder if there's any more function to it or if they were screwing with it just to screw with it...
LOL SBN Ball Breaking...I think that should be a new olympic sport!

More crappy Japanese Industrial Design styling. The stylists for the original R1 must be rolling over. Or designing switches and knobs for kitchen appliances, by now.
I'm not so fond of the trend of going away from fairings. I realize its likely due to the fact that the areo-dynamic advantage is probably not really there (bikes just aren't slippery no matter what you do) and it probably helps deal with heat dissapation a lot better. But it sure doesn't look as good.
That said, all I really care about is whether Yamaha is going to get back on track performance wise.
So at what point can it not be considered a faired sport bike anymore? I'd say that's it - a belly pan and a few small wings a fairing does not make. Oh well, as with anything, you end up partial to a certain vintage, and current design trends just don't speak to me anymore. With every new redesign, I like what I already have that much more, which isn't necessarily bad.

It looks like current honda liter and and Kawasaki ZX10R had unprotected sex. But for some reason I like it.

Basically, UFO's are the fastest 'cause they go 0 to warp 9 to negative warp 9 then back to 0 in -3 seconds flat."- some guy at KawiForums
But it definately would require an aftermarket exhaust.
