Really stupid question: bottoming out bad for subframe?
Earlier this week my g/f and I were out for a ride at the end of the night and were cruising at about 45 or so when we rode through an intersection that has a good dip at the end of it, but nothing I've ever felt the need to slow down for.
Well there was a shitty spot in our lane (basically a repaired pothole) that made the "smooth" dip more like a hard hit. The rear suspension bottomed out with a hard clunk that even had my g/f saying "hurt" when the ride was over.
My question is, the rear subframe looks scrawny enough as it is. Would bottoming out the rear suspension with the added load of a rear passenger cause any kind of stress or tweak to the subframe? I'm sure this is a stupid question and I'm worrying about absolutely nothing, but it's been bugging me since it happened that maybe the hit coulda caused enough stress to bend something somewhere on the subframe (as in having the tail section of the bike sag downward if only even a fraction of an inch...)
I know I know, this has got to have more than a few of you laughing and/or asking "Is this guy serious?", but give me your input or atleast put my overly paranoid mind to rest.
