1 sharp downward blow to the mirror usually takes them right off and leave them dangling by the wires. We used to do this when someone would try to pinch us off while we were lane splitting. By the time bitch or asshole realizes what happened, you are at Starbucks drinking an Iced Tea or Frap.

So let me get this straight:
1) you reminisced about your friends horrific accident at that very spot
2) Then decided to ride off, on one wheel immediately after?
While I don't think you should be in jail for it, it does sound kinda stupid in retrospect doesn't it?

I'm not sure what my friend riding home from the gym and having somebody turn left in front of him has to do with enjoying my ride. You can think about something like that to keep you focused, but it doesn't have to dominate your life forever.
Oh, and for the newbs: Doing a wheelie doesn't make your brain suddenly shut off. You can still concentrate on the road ahead (hard to believe but true!). Its not like as soon as the front wheel leaves the ground your brain starts coming out of your nose.
Important note: Do not look skyward while wheelieing. The motorcycle is traveling forward, not upward.

Perhaps it is similar to remembering at a person's grave (with the exception that it was the spot of injury/death) by pouring a bottle of good Bourbon or incense.

That has happned a few times to me, while I was doing absolutely nothing wrong. I use my signals 100% of the time etc, etc, etc...and people still seem to hate. A couple of times out of the raging cager situations I just rev the bike up and hold it over their voice. That reeeeeeeally gets to 'em.

I had a WTF moment today myself. I was coming back from lunch (headed to work) and I pull off into my left turn lane. I always do this fast because of the idiot drivers around here. Anyway, I signal, go down one in the gears, keep the same speed, and start my sharp dive into the left turn lane. As soon as I enter the lane a car damn near rear-ends me. Seriously, she almost caught my mirror she was that close as she passed. What boggles my mind is that I almost always speed up before entering that lane to break away from traffic (since I only have less than 25 yards to brake and make my turn).
I wish I had a megaphone mounted to my helmet... I put together what would be known as a "masterpiece" string of insults. I impressed myself so much that I recited it on the way in the office - "cuntfuckfacebitch!" LOL.

When you put it that way it makes a bit more sense.

Just give dumb drivers the ol' dice shaker (think about it). I find it to be much more effective than the finger, especially on a bike, where you can get proper hand placement with it still being visible.
