Default Cuz wants to buy his first bike...

I have a cousin who has terrible credit and about $2000. He wants to buy his first bike. He wants to buy something with a little more power than a 250 because he won't have money to buy something bigger real soon. He's been focusing on Katana 600's.

Anyone know some good sites besides craig list for these types of bikes?

i'm probably wrong but i dont think a katana is as agressive as some 600's so it might be an ok option

I'm in the same boat, I'm thinking about a ninja 250, 500, SV650, or Katana.

This is going to be my only form of transportation so I'll be on the interstate, backroads, through town, and everywhere else. I don't see the 250 doing too well on a 200 mile interstate ride ...

I'm only going to be spending max 2 grand as well, and just like him, I have to REALLY like it and be able to live with it because I won't be able to upgrade for quite some time with my low paying ass low hours job ...

EDIT: Did I mention I'm 5, 11 220 pounds? lol

You're not going to get an SV for 2000 and if its your only transportation you'd better get full gear because you're far more likely to crash because well one you're in FL and two the more miles you log in traffic the more likely you are to have an accident.

You can find a 500 or katana in that range but I'd say go for the 500 because its more than fast enough and is far lighter and well the kan-0-tuna is fucking ugly.

Can of tunas (Katanas) are dirt cheap and as dumb as rocks.
I've never seen any one actually kill one. It's an over engineerd oil cooled heavy 600.
One big perk of this bike is that every one and their brother can work on them, and they are cheap. A draw back is the ammount of oil they take! Wow!

Bout as fast as a 250. The new ones aren't that much faster than a 250. They just look better. The Ninja 500 would be the best bet for you.

Get it cheap and play with it. They are bomb proof for the most part. I had a lot of fun playing with one, even though I haven't owned one.

I already have gear and I'm not new to motorbikes, I've found several SV650's within $2,000 - $2,200.

Why is it someone is more likely to have an accident if they ride in FL? care to explain?

I would look for a used EX500 or used GS500. That '89 could be good, but it could also be a nightmare...if you go look at it make sure you check over everything.
