I knocked my helmet of my bike, so now i just take a plastic bag.. fill it with towels and ride with that on my head. It must be safer than my helmet?? right?? oh BTW.. i read a (article)study that people with white helmets are 24% more likely not to be involved in a crash??? I have no idea how true that is but it kinda makes sense as far as night riding.. white is easier to see.. also the matte black got the worst ratings..??

My AGV was close to $500 when new, but got it on close out from Dennis Kirk for just over $300. I really WANT the Italian flag Arai, but not for over $600.

My RF-1000 was the worst waste of money ever, the POS is almost unusable because all it does is fog up. I use my KBC cheapie I got for free simply because it never fogs in any weather. You get what you pay for?? Hardly, some helmets are simply over hyped junk.

Without a load in the helmet, a 3 foot drop IS NOT going to damage the foam.
Think about it - there is nothing inside the helmet that is going to crush the foam.
Anyone claiming otherwise is just trying to play it safe.
There is a possibility of shell damage, since a helmet has weight, but that is easier to inspect for.

This is good to know, because I put my helmet on my mirrors, one day I didn't put it on far enough and it fell, bounced once and I caught it (it looked pretty smooth), and since then I've been worried, but hasn't stopped me from wearing it. It's that or nothing, and I won't do nothing.

Furthermore, all US spec helmets have compression liners that are painted, most often black. This is to clearly reveal the striations that are inevitable when the liner compresses. They will show as white "cracks" in the black paint. And they're as obvious as daylight.

New Bike
I'm in the market for another bike. Just got rid of my 2007 Aprilia RSV Factory and a 2007 GSXR 1000. I still have a 2005 R-6 and 2007 CBR 600RR I use for track days. What are your suggestions?
Stan

Shell damage no?
I would think shell damage is the issue, no? I mean think about it. If a helmet says dropping it can damage the protection, I don't think they mean with your cat inside. I think they mean empty. There are really only 2 kinds of helmet impacts. Dropping it and crashing in it.

And that could be true, but I dont think any reasonable person should expet to replace there helmet after every drop.

Which color is easier to see in daytime or at night?
Think of the head/torso at about eye level to cagers in traffic. Urban camo or not...

Puting the helmet on the mirror does way more damage than a simple drop ever could. All of the helmets weight is concentrated on a small area and that damages, compresses, the safety foam.
