Yeah, that part sucks. Esp with gas prices the way they are. It costs me about $400 all told for a weekend there (for the 2 track days, gas, food/drinks, photo CD, etc, etc), if I don't have to buy new tires. But it's soooooooooooo worth it.
$130 for a JenningsGP track day. That's pretty reasonable.
But where are the reasonably priced places that gives the top of 5th a run for the money?...
someone tell me where i can go in florida to run the 1k @ top speed. No dragstrip is long enough, no track is either. the road is the only place long enough and flat enough.
unless you know where i can find a stech of level ground that streches 5-10 miles, the highway is the only places that comes to mind.

My 954 will go twice the speedlimit without missing a beat passing someone.Crack the throttle on mine and hang on, cuz you are getting to 70 in a 30 in a heartbeat. Yes I do this often to minimize the time I am passing and getting by the person and down the road....Looks like you are going to see police chases going through the roof. I know if there is no doubt I am handing my bike over and I am going to lose my liscence I have NOTHING to lose by running.

LMFAO, i love your definaition of a HD on your sig now that you got me reading it...
Just one possible scenario to consider. If I had time, I could come up with countless more:
A line of cars on a 2-lane road has backed up due to someone up ahead going slower than posted. You're 3-4 cars back, and everyone in the line is driving like morons because they have the patience of a house fly in heat.
You'd like to just chill & maintain an adequate distance to the car ahead of you, but the inbred behind you, distracted with children/radio/cell phone/Big Mac/all-of-the-above is riding your ass. What's the safest course of action?
1) Sit there and wait for the guy behind to lose focus fishing for a pickle slice that fell on the floor and ass-pack you.
2) Slowly pass the line of cars ahead doing the speed limit and pray an oncoming car doesn't appear before you finish doing so.
3) Quickly and decisively pass the cars ahead, throttle down to a reasonable speed, and enjoy having the road to yourself.
I don't know about you, but option 3 is for me. And on a GSXR750, it's not too difficult to hit 30 over passing 2-3 cars decisively. Is it right for me to lose my motorcycle forever, let alone fines & jail time, for choosing this course of action? I don't think so.
Just for reference - until starting my own business - I commuted daily, by motorcycle, for years in Phoenix and beyond. And - riding as I do - not once had an accident with another vehicle (though like all commuters, I had to avoid potential accidents on a daily basis). I also consider myself a very courteous rider... I'm not barreling through traffic, fishing through lanes, or acting up in general. I simply use speed when I must. But when I must... I don't pussy-foot around.
Passing more than two cars is illegal in Ohio. I'll bet it's illegal in most states. So option 3 is illegal most of the time, anyhow. It's also a good way to get killed when the lead car behind the slowpoke pulls out to make his own pass and you run into him.
How about option 4, let the cars in front of you pass the slow driver (they will) so you can get your turn?
FWIW, this law IS ridiculous. Jailing someone for *just* speed? That's certainly not what our '1% of the adult population is in prison' jail system needs. More non-violent offenders.
My prediction: this leads to more fleeing and and a real crackdown in Florida on sportbikes because they are fleeing all the time. No one in office is ever smart enough to put two-and-two together and see the effects their brilliant laws cause.

It's not 30 over, its 50 over and on the third offense the vehicle gets seized. I don't see a problem with that. If you get pulled for doing 50mph over 3 times then you deserve to lose your bike.
Noboby deserves to lose property over SPEEDING.
Stop being such a wimp and stand up for your RIGHTS.
