I don't have a problem with the penalty, I have a problem with the fact that it's being applied only to motorcycles. Cars and trucks going 30+ MPH over the limit are far more dangerous than motorcycles doing the same.

I still think its crap. Driving is a privalage and they can take away your liscence but they cant take your vehicle. Gov't got too much power when this starts to happen.

Who the hell are you endangering besides your self ripping a wheelie down some backroad with noone but the cop hiding in the bushes to even see?
Just because a road looks like there's nobody around doesn't mean there isn't. Depending on the road, there could be a drunk, a jogger, someone crossing the street, someone who ran out of gas and is walking to the next exit/station, etc. A speeding motorcycle (or car) can endanger these people moreso than it would if it were not speeding. Slower speeds result in less damage, greater control, shorter stopping distances, and increased time to react.

People hit deer, pedestrians, and stopped cars all the time on roads that were "empty."

The irony would be some jerk-off motorcyclist speeding down the road because it's "empty and there are no tail lights visible" only to run over an unconscious motorcyclist who's laying in the road after a wreck because he was going too fast to swerve or slow down in time.

The taking of property by the government isn't exactly new to our laws, and is even allowed by the Constitution.

Not really a precedent. Most states already have laws very similar to FL's forfeiture laws. Covering lots of illegal activities..

I am sorry but if you cannot learn by your third offense you deserve to be fucked. literal and figuratively of course.

It's not being applied only to motorcycles, they changed it to include all vehicles, and to 50+ over.

Florida's helmet law says if you are 21 and over, and if you have at least 10k worth of medical insurance, you can ride without a helmet, but must use eye protection.

yeah thats what i say...

but you know the type, there just like "whatever you dont know shit fucking crotch rocket rider, get a real bike."

no helmet law, so if you wish and your 21+ you can choose to ride w/o a lid.
I find it wonderful that there are no laws about gear here... the retard's wheed themselves out. The ones who go from bar to bar on the beach i work at on a dresser harley wearing sandal's board shorts, no fucking shirt , and sometimes eyeware.

outside of eye ware, thats pretty much all they have to wear.

Momentum=velocity x mass^2 Cars carry exponential more momentum. Twice the weight, 4 times the momentum.

Edit: Bikes should have more leeway but that'll never happen.

Florida should focus on their illegal immigration problem before something like this, but we know that's unlikely.

I wonder how this ranks against crimes of MS-13, identity theft, and uninsured illegal drivers who injure or kill people.
