Seriously, I could ride with Van Halen's self titled album. "Running with the Devil", "You Really Got Me", "Eruption". That could get me to where i'm going just fine.

Or if I want modern I could go for some Godsmack.

I guess you could say I ride with "background music" not actual music.
We're on the same page brother! When riding, I'll throw plenty of rock into the mix (the best: Def Leppard, as I grew up with all their albums), but it's mostly trance, techno, electronica, etc, and yes, some vocal trance too.

My main beats are anything from Armin Van Buuren (pretty much my speed soundtrack), John Digweed, Tiesto, Darude, Paul Van Dyk, Sasha, ATB... The list goes on and on including tons of somewhat unknown DJ's. DJ Krush (not saying he's unknown) has a pretty good "street" style goin'. Breaks away from the typical techno.

But yes, like you, nothing goes better with driving/riding that vocalless music. It just seems to be made to go along with your adrenaline from the sights and sounds of things in motion.

People refer to things as being (whatever) in motion, but I like to think of trance as "motion in music".

You aren't the only one. I've got a good bit of trance & prog breaks on my player. Lyrics don't distract me though. I've caught myself singing along in my helmet and didn't even realize I was doing it until halfway through the song.

wagner's ride of the vaulkeries really gets me in a trance...relaxed and focused...like everything fades away except the corners and my bike...

but the hot rod herman remix or more human than human is really nice too...

its just what mood i am in at the time...

I cram as much Enya into my iPod as possible, and when I run out of songs I fill the gap with some David Hasselhoff. Who says he's only big in Germany!

Ok, seriously though. Mostly upbeat or energetic music. Led Zeppelin, Metallica (the old stuff), Rammstein, Bad Religion. Some hip hop like J-5, Roots, Blackaliscious. Then some totally random stuff like Neil Diamond, Pizzicato 5, Bjork, Morrissey/Smiths. Its a pretty ecclectic mix!

You think that's scary, you better hope I never post a picture of myself here. You'll have nightmares for a month!

And admit it, you like-a da Hoff, don't you?
