You guys might get a kick out of this (mini chopper build)
So my friend bought this mini chopper frame and motor and all the stuff to go with it while we were in high school (about 5 years ago) but had no fabrication skills or knowledge to put it together. Over thanksgiving break we kinda made a bet with ourselves that we'd put this thing running by the end of winter break. Kinda our own mini chopper build off lol.
In about 3 weeks we managed to go from a bare frame to running bike. It's not perfect, but we got a lot further than I ever thought we would. Main problems are there's no pegs (engine is so far forward makes it hard to put them somewhere, fender doesn't really fit the wheel, no brake cable, and it's balls slow.
Couldn't get a brake cable long enough to go from the rear brake to the handle bars since it really should be a pedal. Since it's so slow though with the motor being a 70cc piece of chinese garbage with it popping off the mounting bolts 3 times, leaking oil, no real clutch, and missing 3rd gear, we're going to look for a nice 125cc with a 4 speed and a real clutch and then splurge and get a real front wheel with a hub for the brake disc on it. Should make it a lot more real and a lot more fun to ride.
Was definitely worth the experience and I'm pumped to start building other stuff now. Definitely makes my datsun more of a reality and I really really wanna build a shifter cart with a big motor (600 maybe? lol).
So anyway on with the pics:

lol yeah right I wish. I couldn't believe how much those things went for on ebay. The 250 in my ninja is looking mighty tempting to rip out though haha.
For brake cables, you might try a car parts place that handles old VWs. Early microbuses had brake cables near 10 feet long. If that doesn't work (and it didn't for me; I needed 12 feet), you can get cable of any length from a chandlery (sailboat place) and put ends on it (or have someone do so if you've got an old-school bike shop around that still knows how to do that).

Try a autoparts store, or they can point you to where you can find that stuff, anything can be found. I was always ordering wierd cables for my gokarts.
before you try to build something real fast, stick with getting the chopper working right, thats a simple project you really need to get down before building something with a 600 cc motor on it.
Glad you guys had a good time.
Built alot of shit with buddies. Days I will always remember.
Is it a bicycle brake cable? if so just go to a bike shop and get a cable for a tandem bike. you should be able to get up to 160" IIRC and the housing comes in bulk, so get matching lentgh of that too. it should be about $20 for everything.

Hmm didn't think of that. Yeah, everything works fine it's just the motor is a real pos. It's hard to get the bolts right in it with the mounting plate that was on there and then once that was squared away one of the bolts stripped when it pulled itself out and then it started leaking oil the next day. We kind of put it aside for now until the summer when we can afford something like a 125 with 4-speeds and a real clutch. That thing had some major stress on it from the jerky shifting of the suicide clutch it has.
If we get a motor with a real clutch I'm just gonna make the rear brake into a pedal brake. Would be a lot easier to run a short linkage than a long cable down the length of the bike.
how about trying to run some of those dangling wires through the frame?
lol I only had winter break to do this. It's not totally done yet. I seriously have no idea how to even do that, but I did want to find out to clean it up.
